Here was the point, you seem to have missed it: just because someone pays taxes doesn't entitle them to federal funding.

BTW, you've been in the "kook" category for quite a while.

the seperation of church and state is to not banish all religion from government. its to banish government forcing religon on anyone.

the government funds you and liberals religion (government) and forces it on kids everyday in school.

says nothing about "seperation of church and state" which is a concept and principal and has no foundation in the consitution.

Regardless, church shouldn't be getting gov't funding. Why should they?

Who said I agree with everything the gov't funds except religion?

I don't even see your point in the separation of church/state quotes. The constitution doesn't explicitly state "separation between church & state," but that's what the principal is called.

"American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," because of the principal that there's a "wall of separation between church and state."

The concept is the same from what Jefferson said and what was in the constitution, the only difference is Jefferson further defined it as "building a wall" and the constitution skipped that line. How much does the gov't actually pay attention to the constitution anymore anyway?

We should just abolish religion entirely...its really not doing anything but causing problems. Look at the Middle East if you disagree...or the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, etc...I was raised Catholic but now do not associate with any established religion. You can take it for its moral worth, but its worth nothing more to me...

devouting myself blindly to a book written 2000 years ago just sounds like a good idea :S

For those reasons i believe in Jesusaraus-Rex....he devours the non-believers!

Meh, I'm not much of a believer, but I don't see a reason to abolish religion. Does cause SOME harm, but a majority of it I think is beneficial. I'd rather see people brainwashed religiously than brainwashed by most the ---- on tv and try to be thugs or other lameass ----. A majority of the morals a majority of the religions teach are things everyone should listen to (don't steal, don't kill, etc), but anti-premarital sex and other ---- is just retarded.

That picture would have been much much cooler if jesus was shooting lasers out his eyes, vomiting acid, or using telekinetic powers/mindbullets.

hmm yes, compare the typical religious person against the typical non religious.

the latter will cause much much much more problems

Yeah, its a stretch to say 'abolish it entirely' because there are a lot of benefits in religion and many people find hope and strength in it. The morals should be a universal thing...dont kill, steal, etc.

As for JR, i'll get on that w/ paint soon...

it's funny because these days, people really can see the hypocrisy that is attached to most of so called "christianity"

If you look at what Jesus says in the bible, "I am no part of this world, just as my people are no part of this world." you can see that he does not want a religion that bears his name to be backing political powers.

Ultimately this system is ruled by Satan, and our faith in salvation needs to come from a higher source than human government.

Again, like I mentioned, most people are so soured by this point with religion that it takes on an almost comical nature. I.E. all the MS paint pics you see these days :)

As I've said before (and we actually had a good discussion about it) I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I'm sure you're all going to chime in about me staying the hell off of your porch, :) but I just wanted to chime in here and let you know that even though Witnesses are one of those religions that people think are brainwashed, you just need to understand what we're doing it for.

Speaking of going door to door, it scares me to death, and I get nervous every time, because I know what you're thinking, and I know you're looking for any opportunity to shut the door, so why do I do it? because it was a command by Jesus to continue the preaching work. I wouldn't do it if I didn't believe it.

To clarify a bit, because people always seem to get this wrong, we as Witnesses are not advocating anarchy or anything like that. I am extremely grateful that I live in a country that affords me the freedoms I have. But will I compromise a God given command not to kill others to preserve those freedoms? No.

There are just under 7 million Witnesses worldwide in about 234 lands, and in quite a few of those, they face bans and prison time or worse if they are apprehended while preaching, but they do it anyway, why? because it was a command by Jesus that they do so.

Sorry to go all religious on you guys, but honestly I thought we had some good conversation about it last time, and any time I can clarify the standpoint of Jehovah's Witnesses, I try to. People do seem to be quite curious about us. So if you feel like it. Ask away.
