Bought a new car... finally

** Scroll down for pics**

Well it took me about a month and a half to decide what I wanted, but I finally bought a new car since mine was stolen (see link) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...&topic=68129.0

I got a '95 BMW 325i. It's an inline 6, DOHC, 10.5:1 compression engine... a little under 200hp. Oh and rear-wheel drive :)

The good thing is I didn't have to take out a loan or anything, I just paid the guy cash from part of my insurance payout plus a little I had saved... I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.

They only gave me like $3,700 and wanted $1000 bucks to buy it back... but since there was more than $2700 worth of parts/work to be done just to bring it to stock running condition, I said ---- that.

No, I did not buy this car thinking I'm going to pull a lot of puss... I know I will :6 Just kiddin, I just really like the way BMW's drive and it has everything I want in a car... straight engine formation, DOHC, rear-wheel, manual... those are the things I wanted first. Then, I started looking at my price range and it just so happens I got a decent deal on this car.

If it breaks, I'll fix it... but as of now I don't have any problems. BTW, as you can expect there are hardly any forum support for BMW's, let alone a certain model (unlike a million honda sites and a couple good integra specific sites).

Those are cool cars. I almost bought one about a year or so ago, but it was a 4 banger. Any pics of yours?

The best cure for the Bavarian nightmare is LS1.

Re: Bought a new car... finally

$6200

Not too bad, I think. The only things wrong with it (that I know of) is a broken spring in one of the passenger doors (like $90 or so). Other than that, it feels really strong and it corners like a champ.

The guy originally listed it @ 7500, didn't sell, then knocked it down to 6500... then I talked him down.

Insurance isn't too bad on it... I'm 21 yrs old and I have everything but collision (if I crash my own car I deserve to pay) and for 6 months it's only $500.

Scary part is that I'm already considering it... 10.5:1 compression ratio is a bit high though. That can be dealt with, however 8)

Yeah, I only really wanted to spend around 5k or so, but I really wanted this and I had the cash, so what the hell.

Compared to the blue book value, my ass really didn't take a beating.

Re: Bought a new car... finally

I'm pissed... a lot of those yuppy fucks on the BMW forums all pay mechanics and ---- to do any FI, so they suck when it comes to information. I really don't know the limits of that engine and they're not quite as common as a b-series, so I don't wanna blow it up. I'm not too sure what the weak link will be in that engine... I'll have to do a bit more research before I do any projects on this.

BTW, supercharger "kits" start at like 4k for these... turbos are even worse. HMT FTW.

the only reason people buy bmw's and mercedes is to impress people wether its girls or what have you its still just a ego thing. i was never really into the whole tring to impress people becouse i hate them all. but if thats what your into looks great, commy

Re: Bought a new car... finally

The typical BMW mod list consists of an intake, chip and exhaust. All of which was installed by a shop so your really gonna have to search to find FI info. Not a bad looking car though.

I'm not out to impress people, I just want a car that I actually like to drive AND look at. I could have bought a 92 Civic and turbo'd it and still had cash left over, but I just wanted a change from the Honda world.

This was more of an opportunity when I came accross this car... I wasn't set on any car. I had a list of features I wanted (rear-wheel, inline engine, DOHC, manual) and this one happened to be perfect for that, plus it was in my price range.

I considered a few different cars that met that criteria, including a few Nissans (sweet JDM drift machines). I think I made the right choice.

Good news... I found out my car has the "sport package", which is just a fancy way of saying stiffer suspension, LSD, and bucket seats.

KR
If ya need info, let me know.
Those are insanely common cars to boost around here.

One of the locals just dynoed his M3 inline 6 equipped E30 inxs of 1100 claimed ones.
The M50 and M52 engines take a LOT of heat with a huffer.
