Bought my first motorcycle
1 Attachment(s)
I've ridden dirt bikes (250's and smaller) growing up, but I've never ridden a street bike before. I got a 1997 Honda CBR 600F3. It has about 18k miles on it, minor scratches, runs great. The guy had it listed at $3700, but I talked him down $400 ($3,300 if you can't do math). I wanted to get a 600F4 since that's when they started doing fuel injection... but I couldn't find one in the area for the price I wanted. I'm pretty happy with my purchase so far.
This is the picture the seller took... I don't have a camera at the moment. Attachment 27667 |
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
hell yea...i want one soooooooo bad.....im like you i have bunch of dirtbikes and 4wheelers but i never owned a street bike....i wanna get a gsxr 600-750 or r6 or cbr600rr..
i want something that is fuel injected....but nice ike and be careful!!!!!! |
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
Sweet. O0 Wish I could afford one :-\
|
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
kinda sounds like you paid a bit much, my friend picked up a 01 cbr for 4k with 12k on it. Feul injection is the way to go.

Re: Bought my first motorcycle
I bet there's a bigger market down in CA, though. Weather sucks in WA, so not a whole lot of bikes up here. I checked KBB & NADA, I paid under blue book... meh.
|
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
Nice, I want one.
Hopefully after I sell one of the Hondas I can find one. Looks good. |
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
sweet bike, i've also got a 97 f3. you're lucky to find an f3 in that great of condition, most of them are all rashed up. they really are great bikes, you should learn a lot on it.

I was looking at the power difference between the F3 and the F4 (fuel injected) and it's rated 5 hp more with EFI. I believe the F3 is rated at 105hp @ 12,500... a little over 400 pounds for the bike... should be fun. |
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
thats funny, cause the low beam is out on mine, haha. i just roll around with the high beam, doesn't matter to me 8)
mines geared down a bit and also has a full system and jet kit. with those mods, mines a little faster than stock or maybe a slip-on f4i acceleration wise. of course it really doesn't matter when you get into the twisties. respect the bike and it will be good to you. you've got more than enough power to ---- yourself up. ride safe man! |

yep you'll be very happy with the f3. i bought mines for 2k (i knew i got a great deal for it). had about 19k miles on it. FULLY maintence up and everything too.
ride the bike for awhile then i recomend doing a -1 front +2 rear sprockets. it'll throw off speedo but it'll ride on one wheel nicelly. Attachment 27665 |

Re: Bought my first motorcycle
yea i was wondering the same thing...make the bike look 10x better..i hate the banana seat bullshit..thats the only reason reason that i didn't like those bikes.
|
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
the only thing i got to admit though about the bananna seat is it's really confortable.
i mean really comfortable. probably the most comfortable moto seat i've ever sat on. |

it's a sharkskinz GP tail.......i actually still have the stock seat, but i ------ hate it. i put the gp tail on last track day and just never took it off. the stock seat seems to narrow and forces me to ride on my taint all the time. pretty sad when honda couldn't design a seat better than a flat piece of 1/2 inch foam. i actually rode all the way from sacramento to phoenix with the gp tail on.

Re: Bought my first motorcycle
f3's are nice bikes. all honda's have the shitty seat problem. after 30 minutes, it feels like you're sitting on a concrete pad. can't you swap f4 tails on these?

Re: Bought my first motorcycle
the really shitty part about financing a bike is paying for full coverage insurance. even paying some crazy interest on a personal loan would be cheaper than paying full coverage.
a full year of liability is a hundred bucks and change for me. |
Re: Bought my first motorcycle
sweet.
im lookin to find another seca turbo that i can ride around. but im definatly not going to pass up a real good deal on a sport bike |

My one credit line is about 5x more than anyone my age so I think I'm okayish. I just don't want to be stuck with 25% interest on loans.. cough :o :-*
