bought a BMW today

I was hanging around the auto craft shop on post today, and I saw it came in to be junked. its in great condition on the body, engine looks clean as hell, inline 6 520i 4 door sedan, the guy that turned it in said it needs a clutch and a complete exhaust system, has a small dent on the passenger door. I drove it around, and it drove great, only clutch I see bad was the cooling fan whining.
I never owned a bmw before, and I reallly don't like them either, but I decided to give it a try. this won't be a race car or nothing, just a daily driven car for my wife to replace the mazda.
don't have any actual pics of it yet, since I havent done any paperwork yet, but I got for $300 . and whatever it takes to get it passed inspection is free from the recycling yard because I bought it from them, and if I changed my mind by tomarow I get refunded. its a 90-96 I am not sure what year since I only paid for it to secure it, so someone else don't get it before me.

here is what it looks like. will post actual pics when I register it.

!!! 300$ for a BMW?? :l

rudebwoy 02-14-2008 02:04 PM

Re: bought a BMW today

they are sometimes free for newer ones than these.
if I would have cought the guy before he turned it in, I would have gotten it free.
he had to pay the recycling yard $89 to take it, then they turn around and sell it if its not a bad car.

these cars are big pieces of ----, so I decided to sold it to the next guy inline, I had a day to think about it and get my money back.
I never liked them, I think they are ugly slow cars. I remember I promised myself never to own one.

so the bmw mission is a fail.

thats what crazy to me. it very hard for to understand what people see in them, I think they are the worst european cars, and they are always broke, there are plenty of them in the junk yards, and they are all broke for the same parts, usually broken rockers, MAFS , rusty exhaust, computer won't reset. so if you are counting on the junkyard for replacement parts you are out of luck. and original parts are ridiculous.
I was glad reality hit me today when saw 3 of the same cars on the side of the road. all my friends talked me out of it.

So all of the sudden KBB doesn't work for BMW? :1 On a dealership that car would probably sell for closer to $10k out here. People see "BMW" and think it's the hot ----. :S

anyone who have ever stationed or lived in Germany will learn to hate BMW and accept them as slow pos cars.
tunertoys(craig) been here. Germany's top cars are audi, vw, opel , mercedese, and then there is the unaffordable porsche.
I am glad I got my refund.

it usually cost $3000-$5000 to ship a car, and then it get stuck at customs because its not us specs, its not really worth it, now sending the individual parts over in containers will probable work better than sending the car.

turbo4life 02-17-2008 02:47 AM

Re: bought a BMW today

ive heard or nogs sending jdm junk yard ---- over here in containters thye can stuff a whole car in there plust a buch of parts! and it dosent have to get inspected cuz its like going for parts.. then you can cut copy paste the vins form a wrecked car that is a good title and dosent need inspection.. and you is be mad tight JDM YO! lol
