bought a 1996 Subaru Legacy, need input on turboing it.

like the title say. bought the wife one cause she wanted something other than a honda. Anyway, i searched around and f ound that the LSi came turboed and so did the GT. my question is anyone know how well the 2.2l bottom end would hold up to boost?

i saw a impreza this weekend at the junk and thought i could use the exhaust to fab up a twin turbo set up or a single one.

i knwo i can piece together a kit i just want to find out what engine management i should look into, i know Turbo edit is outta the question:P

anyone that can point me in the right direction would be my bestest friend.

Julio-

The engine bay is more cramped than a Honda, don't expect your install to be problem-free. Boost that ho!

I know this guy named frank who is moving to japan. I would hit him up for some turbo parts. ;)

find out if you can use wrx parts. I believe the blocks are the same so things like the manifold should fit any subaru. The gt came turbo but they only made a few thousand of them, like 5,000, so they are not easy to find. The older subaru gl and subaru xt also came turbo from the factory with IHI's RHb5. if wrx parts fit you should be able to find a lot of used parts for it, injectors manifolds intercooler, hood scoops, turbos, pretty much copy a wrx setup/ By the way I have all these parts from my upgrades.

check

nasioc.com and wrxfanatics.com for a whole bunch of info on the cars

about the room, it looks less cramped than my EF so room doesnt seem to be an issue.

it may be easier to swap a wrx engine in, aren't all the subarus on the exact same chassis? you just need to get a different part of the sub-frame for the front?

Stick with the 2.5. I hear those fuckers were pretty quick from the factory.

Let Lola have a good car. Put down the wrench Julio and step back from her car. :P Naw actually Julio the Legacy came TT in Japan. Just have Frank pick up the mani and snails and just do the rest Julio style.

its easier to swap a motor than to turbo the stock one, as well as more reliable and if its the wifes car that would be a nice selling point to her on it.

STi RA Spec from CA 277 hp for around 2200 I believe

Forgot where its from, it should be a pretty easy to find some.

Just walk down the street and check out your many importers that are by you, you retard! Fabbing up a mani for those boxers looks like it'd be a royal PITA.

Like everyone is sayin, drop in motor instead of turboing it, plus yur 50 000 mile stocker might even be nice for spare if you run in to problems with the wife..... I bought a legacy once and it was allready turbo, but as far as modyfing the car i was told the best thing I could do was to put in an STi motor.... i had a buddy offering me the wholle shabang fresh from a 04 for 1500$ :o but i had to sell my legacy :(
