BOTI Aftermath

BOTI aftermath

Dave's Crx 11.7 @ 120? (slicks)
Dustin's GTI (with aaron driving) 13.2 @ 115? (street tires)
Jeff 12.9 @ 108 (slicks) / Steve driving in my car on street tires 13.3 @ 112
Beau DNF... the b16a has now been retired, 9500rpms on the stock b16a automatic valve springs was enough to drop a valve and seize the engine.

What a day, ... or should I say week I spent the last few days trying to rebuild my zc for this race and all I did was make the car incredibly slower. Running forged pistons on 7.8c/r the thing is absoultly a dog. The wastegate is completely shut (no spring) and it only boosts 13-14psi. It felt faster stock with 9psi :-\ Oh well, I think I'm just gonna enter the car show next time. Bisi's new insight is ------- badass he only made one run 10.1ish but the car is just absoultly beautiful. There were definatly alot of fast cars there today especially in the street classes. Oh and congrats to alfy for finally busting into the 14's and taking home 1st place in his class ;) I only watched stef make one run and I think it was a 12.1ish?

Hmmm.... So whats Beau's plan now for the race car I wonder. That really suck bad. I really wanted to go to that today but of course I had to ------- work. Well sorry to hear the bad news. I hope something went right while you guys were there. Beau gimmie a call and let me know whats up.

Re: BOTI Aftermath

Had a blast at BOTI this year.
But instead of pulling an all nighter swapping a piston in my car like last year, I drove down to help Jeff get his car going.
The plan was to throw in the 3bar, and boost the living ---- out of it. 20psi was the goal, but even with the WG shimmed completely shut, it just didnt happen. :-\

Jeffs EG at around 3:30am
http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8935/nogate17ao.jpg

All lined up for tech inspection. Shaa right. Tech inspection didnt even include popping your hood lol.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5818/lineup9zz.jpg

Jeff and Alfay pimping the KIA. It drew HUGE crowds ;D

Beau having a great day at the track....

Beau's spark plug having a great day at 9500rpm...
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6215/beausplug7wz.jpg

Really shitty about Beaus engine; his B16 held up to many years of massive boost and abuse.

Jeff taking my new fatty slicks on their maiden panty ripper...
http://we-todd-did-racing.com/wetodd...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

Jeff wasnt happy with the slicks, and decided to swap em' for some street tires...

Steve getting ready work Jeff's car...
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3563/steve4op.jpg

My brother drove down to watch, so I twisted his arm into taking my CRX for a run :)
He did really well for not having any time behind the wheel, first time on slicks, and having to deal with my VW truck shifter.
12.5 @ 119. Was fun watching my own car go down the track at full tilt. :)
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/2558/mike3mu.jpg

Bisi's new ride was beautiful. I was really looking forward to watching it make its first run. Nothing like an Insight w/ a F22 backed up with a L3 tranny :)
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/5218/bisi5bt.jpg

Overall BOTI was awsome this year. Got to see lots of very fast local cars. Intec had a large # of fast cars out, and Stephen's car sounds ------- mean.
Driving home on race gas was fun too. Unfortunately I didnt happen to roll up on any Z06's, so some solo rippers had to do :)

Damn, looks like you guys had some fun. I'm interested in what Beau is going to do with the race car as well.

Re: BOTI Aftermath

Sorry, but I don't think Bisi is running a L3 tranny, more like a 88 Teg CG tranny with Houseman dog gears.

I'll get pics in 3 weeks at Route 66.........

Re: BOTI Aftermath

had fun last night guys! was good to see you holly!! :)

was glad to see jeff's eg at least make it in the 12's

dave had a good night and good runs

dustin's car seemed to have done well...i'm not up to date on whether jeff made his goal of beating him though. ;)

and for once, i thought beau was going to make it through an import even without breaking something. he made it through his first run with only a minor issue and it looked promising with room for improvement....unfrotunately, seizing the motor wasn't the kind of "improvement" we all had in mind. :-\

all in all though a fun day at track. and as my first experience at PR, you all made it worth it. :)

Re: BOTI Aftermath

I really didn't know what to expect, but I had a pretty damn awesome time.

Some of my highlights:
-Hangin' out with all of you HMT cats and seeing other familiar faces. It's always good to kick it with people you don't see regularly.
-Watching a ton of fast cars. That WorldOne CRX (Beau's twin) did a 9.7, I got to see Dave hit an 11.7, Bisi doing 10's in his Insight, and many more cars. LoL, Jeff does 12's in the blue eg and goes "ehh... it doesn't feel fast." Also it's too bad Dustin couldn't run any slicks. I remember someone telling me that Beau breaks something with every visit to the track, sucks ass that it happened again this time...
-Chatting with random people is always fun. Interesting conversation happens when you get a bunch of car freaks in one place. Me and Jeff were standing next to the Kia and like 10 people showed up around it, haha!
-FINALLY hitting 14's (all I wanted was a 14.6 out of what's on my car right now). It's funny that I'm happy about 14's, but in an extremely MILD-NA, heavy GS-R, it's something to be happy about. I did a 14.6 @ 95.5 mph with a 2.4 60', so I think I could do better if I could improve my launches.
-I "won" the class that I went to compete in - Street Stock (NA 4 Cylinders, no swaps allowed). LoL, what actually happened was I was the only person to enter in the class. I made a qualifying pass, and the announcer goes "something tells me that this Green Integra is going to win." It doesn't feel like a "good" win because I didn't get to race anyone (I really wanted to run some Type R's), but ---- it, I spent a bit of time getting my car ready to compete for this event, so I figured I'd earned it. Besides, I was hitting faster times than the ITR's anyways :P <<---hope that doesn't sound cocky... just saying how it feels.

Here are some funny pictures. They're funny because I pretty much got these items for racing by myself:

If you're referring to Dustin, I believe it had to do with the slicks not being able to fit on his car...

If your refering to me, i chose the azenis over the 24.5in slicks, My car hardly has enough power to even spin those fuckers. Dave had his skirt on all day long at the track and didnt want to trade slicks. I think we could have had better ET's if I used the 22's and if he used the 24.5's.

Ya, some of us were unsure wtf it even was. Built 4g63 behind a built automatic dsm trans... it ripped with the 28in slicks ;)

So yesterday I was just so baffeled that my car was only boosting 14-15psi at the track with the wastegate blocked off. So I made a block off plate that would go inbetween the adapter plate and the turbo. The exhaust housing I have on that turbo is a 1.0 Tang (split/divided housing), so one of the ports is completely blocked off. This basically speeds up the exhaust velocity and forces all the exhaust do go down one port. I just got back from my test drive and it was hitting 21-22ish psi. Glad I still got race gas in the car, lol the 28 degree timing map is great ;)

neuspeedescort 08-29-2005 01:56 PM

Re: BOTI Aftermath

you ar ecorrect as to which motor and tranny it was but one thing is wrong. as long as i have known him its been a stock bottomend. he just got a sponser for the first time last year and its jsut so he can use their dyno to correctally tune it. uptil then he had only street and track tuning. anyone know what he ended up running?

HMT-Admin 08-29-2005 02:20 PM

Re: BOTI Aftermath

He ran a 10.7, and his car is not primered either, its red/grey I do believe? And from what he said it is built meaning it has rods and pistons (so he said)

The honda-tech video has a video of him running if you want to watch it.

Re: BOTI Aftermath

last i talked to him was about a year ago. at that time he had a stock bottom end and he had run a 9.49 @ 144. i believe he was running smaller slicks also like some 26's. im sure he has changed things since then but he is a really cool guy.

LOL they call that a drag bike?!! not hardley. do they realy run ---- out there like that? because if they do, I could go out there and make some seirous change with a real car tire bike >:D

Re: BOTI Aftermath

too bad you hadn't found that block off idea sooner there jeff.

that 7.8CR would be alot nicer on a ton of boost.

either way you can send those puppies back if they're just too low for ya, unless of course you break em first :P

^ im pretty sure you quoted teh wrong person caus ei wasn't even in the same county as SIR on saturday. hehehe

video is ok. i like the red car in the far lane feathering it for traction and it blows off like 4 times. sounds like my first turbo pass early this year. note to self 3500rpm lauchs on street tires don't work!
