Is boosting an over 200k mile d16z6 out of the question??
i've got a dx hatch,
and i'm talking to someone right now whos trying to do a b16 swap, thing is his engines got 221,000 miles.
now hes already said he'd give up the engine for 300bux.
which is a good price,
but is the mileage just too damn high to boost it??
or is that not all that bad?
Its close enough to me so that I could pick it up,
but if you guys think its a bad idea, then i'll pass on it.
or what if I got him down to 250 or so? and just have it be a "disposable motor" haha

omg!! 221k.. ---- poor thing.. you would toast that bitch with turbo.. im sure the rings are fucked now.. even if it was taken care of.. its not gonna handle anything. buy it rebuild it... just put new rings bearings and such on it.. nothin serious.. all stock.. wont cost much...

are new rings/bearings something I could do myself?
never cracked open an engine before.. but i'm not that afraid of doing it, if I got it for 200bux, hehe.
I have read through some of the civic manual, and engine teardown doesnt seem too complicated.

Id offer $125 for it (he'll never sell a 220k engine unless he misrepresents the mileage) and boost it till it dies. If this is your first turbo project, it doesnt get any better than this. You get to learn/lean on a engine you dont care about.
