Boosted again..... well almost and of couse, **PICS**

Well Actually it is done but I'll mention the one problem I'm having at the end...

The 2004 ion redline engine....

Had to relocate the cruise control bracket slightly for added length for the cable, for the new throttle body position.

The inlet pressure sensor location on the ion is a perfect spot for your stock GM Map sensor. Even the bracket to hold the sensor fits on the map sensor, although you do have to extend the wiring.

And yes the hood closes

Now onto the current problem. I had the car running and all was well. I had not driven it but it idled and ran smoothly, all was well. While I was adding coolant I had the car running for about 10 mins trying to get it to circulate. I started hearing a ticking noise which happened to be one of the ribs on the drive belt comming loose. Well I did notice some small damage to the belt before putting it on. I let it run to see how badly it would affect the belt and it shredded itself all at once.

The cause/problem is that everything on the Ion enging uses a 5 rib pulley. I used all the parts I could including the ion alternator. So my A/C compressor and Crank pulley are 4 rib belts, so they are cutting the belt. I would assume that the GM S/C kit belt is a 4 rib version of this belt but I doubt I can order it. Autozone and murrays cannot get these belts either because it is a dual sided belt.

So I either have to use the crank pulley off the redline (no big deal) but also manage to change a/c compressor or just use the clutch/puelly off the redline engine or find a 4 rib belt. I don't have the A/C pump so I'd rather get the 4 rib belt.

In any event that's the only thing holding me up....

Things left to install are:

Later once it's up and running I'll make it intercooled... water pump has been ordered (one on the engine I bought was damamged).

So you going to kick me out of HMT or allow the S/C cavy to stay?

You should turbo it too! Those eco's are pretty beefy.

4 responces, thanks guys ::)

Anyways an updated here. The car is running, emanage is working properly and compensating for the 378cc injectors that I installed. I have the bypass valve disconnected on the supercharger but still hit around 3 psi up high in the rpm band. I just got my wideband back and need to put an extra o2 bung in my exhaust. I was hoping to do that today but no one is open.

I ended up cutting one rib off the factory belt and it's working rather well. I've driven it approx 400 miles and nothing wrong so
far. This emanage is an impressive tool compared to what I'm used to though.... I'm anxious to get the wideband in there so I can begin some actual tuning and upping the boost.

i know this may seem stupid but how do you install/ utilize an intercooler on a roots stile sc. since it is directley hooked up to the intake side of the head?

most commonly it is an 'aftercooler', and it sits under the s/c and the air is cooled after the s/c and before the engine.

some people run water/alcohol injection also.

an intercooler like the type used with turbos would be able to cool the incommoning air, but it will still be heated quite a bit when it is compressed

Looks good, you must be the first person to do that swap. How do you like emanage so far?
