boost controller
I think i'm a going to but a subaru legacy turbo. But the guy said it is set up for 12Psi.....can i use a boost controller to set it instead of changing the waste gate? I only want to run 5-7psi

Re:boost controller
wait the legacy is set at 12 psi and after you buy it you want to lower it?
|
Re:boost controller
why would you want to lower it? if that's the factory setting, then that's what it is meant to run ::) but if you must, no you can't LOWER boost with a boost controller, you can only raise it, so you could either get a new wastegate, or make the actuator arm longer to lower the boost then you'll be able to adjust it with a bc, just not lower than what the actual wastegate is set at.

Re:boost controller
ok, so I'm looking to run 5-7psi for now just to get a turbo setup going. possibly later on i will want to run more. What should I do...should i buy this turbo...look for a different turbo??

Re:boost controller
I think they thought you were buying the car not the turbo for a setup..
You cannot lower boost with a boost controller, you can only raise it. You will have to alter the actuator's shaft going to the wastegate in order to lower the boost. |
Re:boost controller
sorry for the stupid questions...searching is a pain in the ass and if you guys are on during the day like me...you probably don't have much better to do either eh?
So can i fab my own peice for this or would i have to get it made? |

Re:boost controller
just take a rubber mallet to it. Bend the actuator down/in to lower the pre-set psi. Works just like lengthening the arm, just easier. Do it the really ghetto HMT way. ;D

Re:boost controller
isn't that the only way.....?
So how will i know what it is set at? Also...what would be better? This turbo or a talon turbo? |
Re:boost controller
yeah, i thought you were talking about buying the car and lowering the stock boost :P anyways, just cut the actuator arm and weld in a piece of metal to make it longer, this will lower the boost. im not really familiar of the legacy turbo but i imagine it might be more powerful than the dsm turbo and i've been told that the older gen dsm turbos dont last long. If it was me i go with the subaru turbo. |
