If its a good one, and you bore the block after you put it in, but I just wouldn't use it

I put one in my LS/vtec and it was file fitted by hand and then bored and decked after.I was hoping if anything it would hold the ---- together when i crack a sleeve and not demo the pistons and best case prevent a failure in the first place. It was a GE unit and I cant see it causing overheating.

since were talking about blockguards:

my new engine is going in the car in a week or so. I have a block guard in the car now. I never had any issues with overheating (mine has holes cut in it that match the ones in the hg) BUT, the allign hone needed to straighten the bores made using stock 75mm pistons (vitaras) useless. Too much ring end gap that ended up making the car slow. So in this one im gonna leave it stock or post it.

so since were talking about posing now: can i do it myself? The thought of drilling through my block and into the sleeve makes me pretty nervous. But so does running 20+ psi with nothing supporting the d series sleeves.

Sorry for threadjacking, but at least its on topic

its easy. have you ever drilled a hole and tapped it? if you have then you can post a block. just remember not to over torque. it doesnt take much to shift the cylinders

yea ive drilled and tapped plenty of holes before, but none that have a lot of money riding on them. Do you have to drill in the exact center of the sleeve? How far do you drill into the sleeve? How do you know when youve gone far enough in?

im not that ignorant. I read the whole posting tech project already. I dont get the part about cutting a tap in half... Because the part that starts the thread will go too far into the sleeve? I guess i can try it in a spare block i have first. How far into the sleeve to you drill and tap though? Its probably about a 1/2", so say 1/4"??
