Black EJ1

I never knew that homemadeturbo.com was so close to home. I followed Pat up on Saturday to Alki, for the HT thing, so I thought I would post up and let everyone see my silly little project.

About thanksgiving last year, I hydrolocked my 95 Coupe, auto transmission. So here is where it starts. No its not being held up by the giant bucket, everyone asks.
http://www.tegnation.com/gallery/alb.../normal_j2.jpg

I picked up a 15g GReddy kit from a turbod16.com member. Extras included Type31 intercooler, TypeS Blowoff valve, shaft play, and a cross-threaded bolt in place of the adjustment stud on the BOV.

I also picked up a JDM D15B, manual tranny, tons of misc stuff from ebay. including some 450cc DSM Blue Tops, and a resistor box.

So about 3 grand in parts later, and alot of time in my bro in laws shop turning wrenches, here is what came out.

The rest of these pics are on http://www.centerlinemotorsports.com/jason that show the entire build before, during, and after if anyone wants to check em out.

no numbers yet, working on getting it all setup right, then it hits the dyno so I can get some AF graphs and tune it.

that's dandy. hotrex is the best seller on this site, he won seller of the month 5 times in a row and got seller of the quarter last quarter.

do you still have the neon kit? I might pick that up from you, I don't really care what color it is as long as it doesn't match the color of my car.

it wasnt a full kit, i had a long side bar fitted in the back, and just that front bar, the front didnt work anymore and if I am not mistaken, the long one in the rear is still back there. (non-wired)

where did you possibly spend $3000? for $3000 I could probably buy a car, and have it boosted, and a pack of cigarettes and lunch at MC D's.

3 grand went kinda like this

$75 for ECU work (chipped by phiz of honda-tech using crome) it had to be converted to a 5-speed ECU, then socketed + $5 to cover some shipping costs back to me.
$500 for jdm d15b (35-50K mile motor)
$350 for z6 tranny
$1600 for GReddy 15g kit with extras (intercooler, BOV, all lines, all piping, part of an HKS EVC, missing link (didnt use), downpipe, manifold, turbo...pretty complete.
$200 or so for the entire pedal setup, with hydraulic lines, clutch master cylinder, flywheel, shift linkage, shifter, boot, knob.
$20 for some OEM Tails
$20 for some JDM Vision amber lenses
$35 for some OEM Headlights
Misc gaskets and fittings, clamps ass needed added up to some bucks.
$68 on a lifetime warranty starter, junkyard was out of 5 speed used starters.
$100 on 2 brand new axles, mine were toast.
$35 on the bracket for the manual trans upper mount for the body which i had to cut out and weld in the new one
$25 for the upper mount since the auto one is different

That adds up to just over 3 grand. Im sure I am missing a few details, so its right in that range. Keep in mind the turbo setup wasnt all I did. This was the manual conversion + new motor + turbo all at once.

It adds up pretty fast. From there it was misc stuff, like coolant, oil, a few bolts I didnt have the right sizes of, etc...

thanks, it was a pretty fun project. had alot of roadblocks along the way and little issues to deal with, like getting the 450cc dsm's to not leak...sheesh.

oh yeah did i list those up there when i did that price rundown.

Add another $40 for those injectors and about $15 shipped for the resistor box.
