lost my job at the speed shop last week.(to slow) now im in the same boat as you. but im in mn so i have snow plowing season but that still doesnt help me with hatch parts

At least you're not in SC where I am as well as 95% of manufacturing jobs. Everyone I know is getting laid off. I have put in 16 resume's and and 2 staffing companies, and still nothing.

Going on 2 months for me.

I haven't missed a full check yet. We're busy as ----. I'm working 6 days a week and we're still behind. I guess I should feel lucky, but most of the people who got laid off weren't worth a ---- anyways. Some companies had to lay off good guys, but the majority of the people out here who got fired/laid off were shitbags who didn't work very hard anyways. Can't blame the economy for that. Showing up to work late, calling in sick, blowing all your money on drugs and not saving a penny doesn't have a damn thing to do with the economy being fucked up. I show up early, NEVER call in sick unless I'm dieing, don't do drugs and I actually have an active savings account. Even if I were to get laid off, I'd be ok for a while. Between unemployment, my savings account and the wifes income I shouldn't have to worry about it.

Alot of shitty companies went under and we gained the work they gave up. Alot of shitty companies bailed out of town when ---- got rough. We stuck it out and picked up their work, too. These rough times have actually helped us GAIN work. I'm still putting as much money into savings as I can, but chances are I won't have to use it. Hopefully after the election things pick up and get back to normal and people will learn from this.

exactly. i got 2 job offers before the end of the night last night, not more than 8 hours after i found out the rig was getting reposessed. although i think i'm going to take a 2-3 week vacation and enjoy unemployment for a little bit.

I can't say I "like" to work, but I know I have to and it's something I have to do if I want to make it. I'm not into scraping by and not having money to pay my bills. I have most of my bills paid up until January. Missing a paycheck shouldn't destroy your life, but most people make $1 and spend $1.99. It's the American way.

Might as well enjoy it. I haven't had a vacation since I started working. I always just take the vacation pay and go to work anyways. I wouldn't mind taking a few weeks off for once in my life. I'm not going to do it by choice, but if it happens I'm not going to slit my wrists over it. Sadly, unemployment out here pays around $243/week at the most. I don't know why it's so low, but that's what they give people out here.
