running carbs on a b16 would be a waste, you would spend much less on some junkyard itbs. once the itb setup is on you may need an afc but its still worth it once you get it tuned. if you are lucky or know the right person you can get all the parts for dirt cheap.

you mean you dont need a ecu to controll spark?? didn't all pre 1980 cars have a hidden secret ecu for spark control? ::) spark and vtec is the easy part, good luck on the tuning :P

Whitey enlighten us all on your knowledge if you know all. Jut the basic megasquirt I mean as standalone for the spark and ignition. Not like some motec or crazy ---- like that would be needed.

Why would you put carbs on an engine that was intended to be fuel injected? Tuning will be a bitch, you wont gain much other than maybe a headache from days sitting in the garage breathing in exhaust fumes. This is a turbo website, slap on a turbo, of if you really want to be different, get some ITB's(fuel injected) and do an ITB turbo setup like Tony The Tiger off Honda Tech, I saw the car in person and it looks frigin sweet.

I never said I know it all its just that the Honda ignition system is no feat of modern engineering, its just an old school distributor that controls spark.

Car ignitions were around before labtops were, so you can tune a car without a labtop. I mean did you ever see a pic of a 1970's Chevelle using a 1970's computer to control timing?

Simplification. My former step dad Mike has an 83 Monte Carlo, originally was a FI 305, swapped in a built 350 with a 4 barrel carb.. he eliminated all of the emissions BS and the FI crap, he ended up with maybe 4 or 5 wires in the engine bay, compared to something like 50 or so before.

Of course this is on an NA domestic, I think it would be an interesting thing to do on an NA Honda.. but forced induction.. I'd leave the fuel injection.
