so before he left to go back to school my friend bet me $40 if i could beat him in a 1/4 drag race (legally at a track) by the time he got back in the summer.
he has a 2004 mach 1 mustang, his fastest time was 13.8. I know i am at least as good of a driver in the 1/4 as he is. I was able to pull off 15.4 seconds in my b18b1 swapped hatch.
Right now my set up is;
B18b1
LS trans(one thing i think i need to change ot be faster)
14b turbo(with a t3 ready planning on 10 psi and waiting to be put in)
with the new turbo i am hoping to break 200 whp
450 cc injectors
stage 1 clutch and pressure plate
i plan on getting new tires before then.
before i tuned it i couldn't get it to go lower than 16 due to bad 60' times (i think cause of tires) and a shady trans (anyone got an extra b16 trans?).

any suggestions on building my car to run 13s?

i am going to stick with a turbo and slicks, i only need to make a 13 second car. nitrous is a seperate factor i don't want to worry about tuning my already boosted engine for N2o also.

yeah and get slicks and gut the car and hope he hasn't changed anything on his car becuase you are still probably out if luck

no doubt, i think the t3 i have will be good with 10 psi of boost
i have seen similar builds that make up to 250 hp

Slicks or drag radials and just crank the boost up, you should have an easy 12 seecond car.

Iv ran a 15.9 in a stock ex coup so that 15.4 doesnt seem that fast

15.4 in a boosted ls swapped hatch? get some drag radials or slicks, and get that thing running right. Is your clutch slipping?
what was your 60ft and mph?

find a boost controller, turn it to the nignog setting, and strip the car like it was your friends hot sister.

Dude don't strip your car, it will be a waste of time. You should easily be able to beat your friend by a full second or more with slicks. Crank the boost up to about 15-20psi and tune your car well.

Seriously, how much weight are you going to lose? :1 Probably the difference between eating a supersized meal or a regular in your stomach. I bet if you took a piss/---- before racing you would lose more weight than stripping your interior and looking like a fag. :3 If that setup can't break into the 13's......it's time to hang up your hat. :3

15.8 holy ---- i did a 14.7 in a na accord with drag slicks, dude practice ur launches the first 60 are to important, and im sure some will call bs but ---- them i worked for the drag strip in woodburn or. and also worked for jim taylor who is well known in the gasser class on the west coast he ran 6.4 the last time i watched him

that mach should be pulling 13.30-13.40's all day. You better hope he didn't get any better at driving

My boss had one of those and it didn't seem that fast. The butt dyno said it was torquey, but still not that fast. :l

they're pretty fast... mid 13s for sure. just a tad slower than the ls1 camaros/firebirds

Well, his was an auto so maybe that was mhy it felt slow? :-\ His wife can't drive manual and it was her car. :3

Sure they can, unless they disabled there rev limiter. ;) Learn how to preload, so you don't break ----, then give her hell...

We need some clarification. Is 15.4 the time with or without the turbo? You said you ran 15.4 with the LS swap in your hatch then turned around and said your current setup is (insert turbo setup here).

If you ran 15.4 with the turbo, give up. If you ran that N/A then you've got a chance. I think 15.4 is a good time for a LS swapped hatch. My N/A B16 ran about a second faster than that but it's in a HF CRX too.

that time was in a NA, LS swapped, Eg hatch.
I crashed that old car i should've said. Now i have the del sol
t3 turbo, ls engine, shady gear box with bad syncros.
stock 2004 Mach 1's should do 13.1 with a good driver, it weighs 3500lbs and has 350 or so whp.

more like 250-270whp and 300rwt

yeh, the plan is to build a fast car. How many people here are looking to build their car because they want to win a bet, i want a faster car.
I am at 163 making 2-3 psi with the turbo i have now (14b with a relocated wastegate that i think is causing my low boost problem) i already have plans to buidl the car.
My friend thinks his car is going to be faster, if i get mine faster he'll give me $40 and i have a faster car than his $28,000 2004 mach one (that he spent over $1000 on just a new exhaust, and tuning) I want my $6000 del sol to kick his V8 ass, it's mostly for pride, bragging rights, to show a couple of ford guys why i swear by hondas.

true that, i keep trying to talk him into a turbo setup yet he wants to go with a centrifugal supercharger i gues sthat's not that different belt driven compared to exhaust so eh. . .

15.4 really isn't bad for a N/A LS in a EG hatch. You should be able to beat him with a solid turbo setup on a stock LS.
