Best way to transport an LS motor in a DA integra?

Am I gonna have to pull the pass seat and rock it there? I'd hate it on the interior but it's gonna be hard as hell getting a motor into/out of the trunk. Any thoughts?

how big is the trunk?

I've hauled an h23 in the back of my accord.

you could take out the pass seat, put a lot of plastic or something to protect the carpet.

wrap the engine with anything and everything you can so nothing will leak. then i duno how'd you support it.

i guess you can hold it while driving :l

Haha, did I mention the trip is going to be about 1,000 miles and that my current engine will probably blow before I get the new back to safety :6 .

then i suggest you take a cherry picker with you and all the tools you need and swap it on the side of the highway once your engine blows. :y :6

Passenger seat is the only way...that will never fit in the trunk unless you take out the glass or leave the hatch open.

Chris you 100% on that? My trunk is completely empty to the floor with no spare or anything. I tried to measure with tape and it looked kind of close....damn hassle. :-\

It should fit in the back if you fold down the seats and lay the motor on its side.

Why don't you just rent a truck for the trip?

Not knowing the specific dimensions of a DA teg, i've had DOHC motors in the back of very small french hatchbacks. You need to use the seatbelt mounting points for ratchet straps, lie the motor on its side and put it on a piece of wood. Then use the ratchet straps to hold that fucker down. Should fit if you have the rear seats flat or removed. If its a bare block minus manifolds, two or three people should be able to lift it easily enough. Just make sure you have a thick piece of plywood to slide it on and plenty of stuff to stop your paint getting destroyed (not just scrathed but properly f@cked)

I used to have a pic of a mates volvo where he didn't strap a motor down, it exited through a side window as he took a bend.

I have two trucks available for use but the gas for a 1000 mile trip is going to be 3x more then the cost of the engine so it's hopping in the teggy when I go home to file taxes in a week or two. All good ideas guys, thank you.
