Best way to prime the oil system after storing?

Default Best way to prime the oil system after storing?

I haven't started my car since Oct 31, 2004. Im sure the battery is dead. but I dont want to start it without priming the oil system.

whats the best and safest way to do it?

I just unplug the distributer and turn it over a few times. Might be some better ways but thats all I've really heard of.

oh i`ve heard of takes out all the plug, disable the dizy and crank it like that.
it should be fine since there`s no pressure on the bearing/rings

start it up and hold the gas to the floor. im sure it will take care of it.


serious....i would unplug the dizzy, crank it a few times, hook that ---- back together, and then fire her up. just my $.02

i have my fuel pump on a switch so i just turn it over a few times with it not turned on.

maybe i could pull the fuel pump fuse to not flood it huh?

The best way would involve turning the oil pump without turning the engine over... but that would involve hella fun taking the T Belt off etc. For insurance you can always squirt some top cylinder lube in the spark plug holes too. Lotsa people do the top lube thing before they store the car. You can get serious scuffing on your cylinder walls if just a little surface rust is on them.
