best swap for a beginner

Default best swap for a beginner

bout to do a swap on my hatch (si) pre 92 and would like to know what you guys think the best swap for be for me? i have never done a swap before. I am thinking of maybe a d16z6, a vtec 1.5 sohc. What you guys think> I would like to spend under a grand

touche.....if you were to rebuild the bottom end of your si motor (d16a6) with new rings and bearings etc. and you do it right, then add a d16y8 vtec head (we know this as a mini me) and use the d16a6 si distributor, intake mani, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors, etc. it will be a fairly easy job to do, there are about 150,000 write ups you can find on it to help through, and a b16a swapped hatch will have a hard time getting away from you, but you will easily do it for under $1,000, run it on an 89 integra ecu, and either an rpm switch or an afc for vtec, or you go chipped ecu....
