The Best exhaust system?

I am posting this because I am intrested in what you all find to be the best exhaust systems for a CRX . My shop Gravity Motorsports LLC here in St. Louis has an 88 hf w/b16 swap done and are going all motor for the time being. I picked up a tanabe super medallion racing spec cat back system cause it was cheap and I was having a hard time finding other cat-backs. Let me here your opinions.

Re:The Best exhaust system?

the best exhaust is a no cat no res straight pipe with the size of pipe that would best fit your setup.

thouse fart mufflers are just amplifers and do little if nothing to enhance performance... they acually make your car slower on the street with the loss of low end power and the HUGE GAIN OF 4HP! misplaced money, when you could buy something else that would acually make a difference... not to mention straight piped 4 cyclinders sound like complete ----, so do 4 cyclinders with fart mufflers.

acually let me rephrase that. all motors sound like complete ASS with fart mufflers. i saw a damn corvette with FOUR FART MUFFLERS INSTEAD OF EXHAUST PIPES!! IT SOUNDED LIKE A COMPLETE PEICE OF ----. it was on an 80s style vette which are slow anyways

Re:The Best exhaust system?

i was always under the impression that on an all motor car you wanted at least one resonator

Correct, if you are going "all motor" I wouldnt take out the resonator. It is way to raspy. The greddy exhaust systems are very nice for all motor, plenty of back pressure, and enough flowing for the top end. They sound very mild, and look decent. They are a bit overpriced, but that is how all name brand stuff goes. Thermal makes a nice stainless 3in system for Forced induction. Or you can just make your own custom exhaust.. for all motor, I would do 2 resonators, and a straight through muffler on 2 1/2in pipe.

Re:The Best exhaust system?

I was dumb enough to buy a pacesetter without a resonator on my NA rex. It was terrible. I welded my stock resonator to the pacesetter catback, which fixed the resonance, but put a chock on my exhaust (since it was smaller diam.). Now it rattles like crap (heat shield), and resonates a little more since I replaced my CAT with a test pipe (which put less weight on the exhaust to allow resonace). It's like hitting a pan with a spoon. The "thong" sound. That's a description of resonance.

When the turbo is finished, I'm going with a 3" cat, and a 2.5" SS cat back exhaust. Maybe a 3"... Would be great for the turbo.

i thought he was thinking along performance lines... wouldn't having a straight pipe be better than straight pipe and a res? but without a res it would be a lot louder...?

On a NA car, you need a resonator. Honda's sound like ---- without them. They sound way to ricey. I would almost prefer to keep the cat and resonator on a N/A car with a straight threw muffler.

Re:The Best exhaust system?

anyways! back to the main question of this topic, I have a 2.25" piping from the cat back on a 2.25" Saber Performance muffler ending in a 3.5" tip. Sound is mean! but not raspy because my header is not SS its ceramic coated.
