Best Engine for a 240

1997 240SX, was wondering which would be a better engine, the SR20 S14 Blacktop, or a RB25DET? how much am i looking to spend on each swap? (parts and labor) thanks for all ur replys in advance! ;D

The stock engine is the best one.. For what you spend on the swap you can have a strong and power engine right there. plus having the swap is a pain since normal maintenance Items are not sold here.

the thing is i found a 97 240, its just missing the engine and trans, everything else is in awesome condition and i can get it cheap, and ive always wanted a 240 deep down inside :D and i used to always want the S14 swap, but ive been hearing that a RB25 is a not so complicated alternative, so im just trying to get some more opinions, i really wanna go with the sr20 or rb25 8)

Buy a few cases of beer, and invite your buddies over to help you out to do it..

I agree with jeff on this one, just make your friends help you, it's not the most complicated thing in the world if you have all the parts, so make sure you have all the parts before you start and your car is out of commission for a weak, that would be pulling a kyle.

When did the Skyline start running 11's out of the box? Damn, I guess I have been driving the wrong car. :P

Re:Best Engine for a 240

Hey I might be able to help. I live in Arizona and I can get the whole front clip of a skyline(RB25DET) shipped to my door for 3500. I was quoted about 4000 dollars for a shop to do the SR20 swap. Both motors pretty much drop right in. The only thing is with the RB you have to get a different driveshaft and a different transmission mount. You also have to have someone do the wiring because they are right hand drive and the wires will not be long enough for our left hand drive cars. Also the stock motor is agood motor but it has high compression which is not good for turbos. Just let me know if you need anything I might be able to help.

Best engine is a LT1 with a procharger.
