You are going to have to drill or weld some mounting brackets down.I would put it in the very back of the car as well as get a sealed battery box if you plan on hitting the drag strip as it is required at most tracks that follow NHRA rules tightly. You will also need a external switch to turn off power to the vehicle that is mounted in the rear.It is alot of work just to free up a little room.I moved mine to the back in my Civic EF but I am just getting a slim sealed battery i cant remember what brand the thing is right now and mounting it in the front down on the frame rail about 6" down from where it is now.

Here is a link showing what I mean.

the back is a good place. lots of bungee rope will help, so you probbly wont have to drill holes or anything. just find a place to strap the bungee cords to

EEER WRONG.

In order to be legal you need to mount it to the frame/chassis using 3/8 MIN. bolts.

From the NHRA Book:

8:1 BATTERIES
All batteries must be securely mounted. Batteries may not be
relocated into the driver or passenger compartments. Rear firewall
of .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum (including package tray)
required when battery is relocated in trunk. In lieu of rear firewall,
battery may be located in a sealed .024-inch-steel, .032-inchaluminum,
or NHRA-accepted poly box. If sealed box is used in
lieu of rear firewall, box may not be used to secure battery and
must be vented outside of body. Relocated battery(s) must be
fastened to frame or frame structure with a minimum of two
3/8-inch-diameter bolts. (“J” hooks prohibited or must have open
end welded shut.) Metal battery hold-down straps mandatory.
Strapping tape prohibited.

this one is probably not legal for most tracks, but locally they don't say anything at the drag strip or scca autocross events.
it is bolted down and is a gel type battery. i like it in this location compared to other places i tried in the back because of the balance it has over the "rear axle" if there were one.

Many Areas and Sanctions do't require all the safety ---- for a Gel Battery. Just that they are tyed down well. Thats probably why.

I don't know this would work for you but here is a good write up on how to relocate it to inside the storage compartment

I went ahead and mounted mine in the trunk (Big group 24), and besides the little battery wont start my daily driven ride when temps drop.
