ok.. i'll throw up some pics of my system. Home made fibreglass spare tire enclosure.

and the amps in a vertical spot.

I have since ditched the vertical amp mount and just bolted them down beside the speaker. With all the covers on the hatch you can't see anything. Even when the vertical mount was in use.

i do not recomend. ive a few friends that have sony ----, and there amp blew in a few weeks and the cd player skipped like a bitch

i love wallmart
I agree about the amps. my parents and I got my little brother an entire setup for x-mas and the amp was toast in 2 months. We ended up getting a better amp (Kenwood) with more power for free.

But sony head units.. I just got one a few months ago.. works great, doesn't skip at all.

definetely homemade. what's better an open air box or one where the sub is completely enclosed, including the part on the opposite side fo the magnet, where that part is covered with plexiglass or something?

I don't know if I trust sony quality on anything if so many of their amps are blowing up

ported boxes (ones with a 3" hole) require more power and a larger box. bandpass = crap (thats where the sub's front is IN its own box, while the rest is in another). I like the sound on an enclosed box more.. it's punchier instead of boomier. It's all about matching. Match the box to the required size as per the sub and match the amp to the watt's of the sub. It may not look pretty but alot of time and measuring went into that sub box and it certainly shows it.

so an enclosed box is where the back of the sub is in a sealed box and the front is in the open air, like you have, right?

Xplod= ***

I just dumped Sony from my store, cause it blows som much ***. We picked up JVC Arsenal in its place and we're pretty happy with that stuff.

As far as subs go right now, the hottest thing is MTX's new SledgeHammer line-up. I sell those things faster then flap-jacks on a Sunday morning. They look cool as hell and pound your ------- brains out, even underpowered! Not too damn expensive either, I have a couple display boxes that I have running, and I don't put a price tag on them, I ask the customer after he hears it how much he thinks it is, he'll say something high and I'll usually come back with less then half of what he said, they go and then they pull out the dough, it works great.

so what's the kyle price on some of those mtx sledgehammers? I'm thinking 25, so I'll send you 12.5 for each?

Do you find the CD's stick while the eject? i've had two KDS-550s do that to me. Either way, the JVC stuff may not be the best looking/performing but they stand the test of time.

My brother actually has the integra setup with all sony. Overpriced head unit, amp, subs. I think the 4 mids came from wal mart. I have installed a few sets of sony xplod mids into cars (like the yellow CRX Si had some). The car is setup fairly light, and works out well (one amp is a kenwood). The head unit is surviving since everythign is run off of RCA wires, not connected directly to the head unit. Overall I think the head unit is crap compared to the high end clarion I had in the same time era (which was like when matrix 1 came out). Unless the deal was really sweet, I would only hook up if the price was right with sony products.

Full enclosure box is what you want. Which means it's a box, no ports, just two speaker holes cut into it. Find the specs on the speakers you get to perform best within that box. Full enclosures sound best in hatchbacks, I normally go for isoberic or bandpass in a sedan type car.
