Default Back from Vegas... *56k not ok*

Last week me and my girlfriend did a roadtrip down to vegas/phoenix. We had already planned on going to vegas for this weekend to visit my Dad and go watch the NHRA Sport Compact event at las vegas speedway. But, I have been in the market for a ski boat and I have been looking everywhere for a decent deal, so I found a old tournment style ski boat down in Glendale AZ, Craig @ tunertoys checked it out for me and I ended up making a offer and the guy took it!

We drove 2 different ways, the way down it took around 19 hours to vegas from everett. Big thanks to Cadracer (ted) for letting me use his Grand Cherokee for the trip!

First off gotta say, Las Vegas Speedway is beautiful! Pretty exciting to see all the bigboys out, this was the first car that caught my eye, probably because the guy looked to be about 50-60 years old driving this thing, We talked to him for awhile, he had no chance against the big players but it was cool to chat with him and check out his setup.

Of course we had to stop by Lisa Kubo's Pit, Before this race she was the world record holder for the fastest ET in a FWD Car. When we stopped by they were welding some braces on the chasis.

Also had a car show going on, this was the only thing that I liked... not something you see everyday

Whats this... A show car with a very HMT style kit going on.. Definatly digging the polished factory exhaust manifold. Cast Welding show style

Guess who showed up? GroundZero's 712whp Street car and Quakerstate had their mobile dyno at the event. Lets just say it was shy about 400hp to their claimed video of 712 on their mustang dyno.

Oh, and everytime I see these guys race they have no clue in wtf they are doing. It was pretty funny, they locked their keys in their big *** trailer. They were running around like little school girls trying to figure out how to get into it, hah.

Lots of fatty snails, everywhere.. Garrett had a huge Display as well.

Jeremy Lookofsky's new car, probably one of my favorites out there, brand new car this year.

One of Bullish's Pro RWD Cars..

The Man, The Myth, The legend, The guy who I have been reading about on the ******* for a good 5 years. Finally got to see him in person. Steph whooped ***, Even though Toyotas dominate this class he quailified #1 and ran a new world record 6.755 @ 198.61 in the pro RWD.

Turbo H22 Crx...

I was pretty excited to see this one in person, I've read all about in on HT. The Stock K20 Crx w/ ITB's and header ran a 11.9, cant even describe how cool this thing sounds.

Between the classes, these guys were out smoking tires until they blew up, sitting on their handle bars doing wheelies and ----, crazy *******.

Leslie Durst, fastest NA Honda in the world, Leia met her last year and she got a autographed shirt and everything. Her setup is pretty cool, Her best ET that night was like a 10.4, and her personal best is a 9.8, she ended up getting 2nd place.

Mopar and GM is dominating the ---- out of the PRO-FWD/Hot-Rod Class, They fund so much money. I can only imagne how hard it would be to fund a race car, guys like Gary Gardella (fastest fwd unibody) doesnt have any major sponsers and is 2nd in the class. It's pretty cool to watch these guys run.

Big thumbs up for Mike Crawford in his SRT-4, he does the best ------- burnouts I've ever seen.

The best race of the night was Nelson Hoyos and Lisa Kubo in Pro FWD, Nelson broke the FWD Fastest ET record at 7.7 @ 179mph, and Kubo has the fastest MPH 7.8 @ 195. I dont think we will ever see a honda engine in this class that will ever touch a Ecotec.

Overall a good trip, lots of driving... Perfect weather and I'm really happy with my new boat, just took it out today and had alot of fun. I'll post some pictures when it's a little bit "picture worthy"

Jeff

Nce write up....11.9 NA is sick...those K-series engine are badass.
Do you think those engines can put Honda back in the FWD game?

Ya it ran 20's at the opening nhra event this year. I heard they have been out in fontana doing shakedown runs but that was like 2 months ago. K series is going to be the swap to do in a couple years but still wonder why H series really doesnt get that much love.
