B18A1 with an EGR valve ?? WTF ??
ok...i seen a 1992 teg GS with the b18a1 motor in it and it had an EGR valve on it...that is the first time i have ever seen one on that motor....and i thought they didnt come with them in general....i have a 91 b18a1 motor in my garage and it doesnt have an EGR...not complaining but its just odd to see one on that motor....just thought id mention that

I have heard this argument before, but I still don't understand why an automatic transmission would need an EGR while a manual would not. Why is that?

i dont know...but last night at street racing there is this kid named Joe who has a crx and he has a b18a1 swap in his ---- and it has an EGR valve on it and he said it came out of an automatic. so i dont know why honda put them on auto's but not manual's...hell i dont know why they put them on in general...there un-nessecary. or however u spell that word damnit

yeah it seems its for emission control.
sites say that it routes a little bit of the exhaust fumes back into the intake at idle, mostly NOx. on WOT its disabled. now as to what this has to do with the auto tranny i have no idea..
i thought it was for proper shifting points and acted like a vaccuum solenoid..

is it easy to remove/block off? or should i buy an intake manifold (thats where is is right?) from a manual tranny car? i might be buying an auto LS motor (as in from an auto, i will bolt it to a 5speed tranny)...

i wouldnt worry bout it....you can take it off or leave it on....i would just leave it there and leave it unplugged...make sure you have an ECU from the manual version or you will throw 2 cel lights....1 for the auto lock up solenoid in the auto tranny and the other for an EGR valve.....if you get the manual version it will eliminate the auto tranny solenoid and the EGR all in one shot.....and since if you have a vehicle that has no EGR plug on it....wouldnt work anyways...so oh well
