B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
I am just posting them for him. He wasn't sure how to host them someplace and post them up.
The name of the game is traction. Here they are in no particular order: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/fa8dccaf.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/fa8dccac.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/fa8dccab.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/fa8dcca5.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/fa8dcc9e.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/fa8dcbea.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/fa8dcbdf.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/fa8dcbdc.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/fa8dcbd6.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/fa8dcbce.jpg |
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
That looks like a nice setup. It looks like he spent some time putting everything together. So, why did he use pvc piping? Good work, nonetheless. ;)

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
No doubt, I could see the PVC not being a problem after the intercooler, but post turbo? That B is going to be huffing some fumes until the PVC melts off the turbo housing.

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
yeah pvc will work, everyone hates on plastic charge pipes.. its bullshit
it works just as good as metal and is lighter.. ABS has a higher creep tempature also.. |
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
My PVC charge pipe had a small amount of ripplage right at the compressor outlet where it began, but worked just fine.
|
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
I'm having no problems with the PVC piping. All my ex-turbo buddies have disowned me because of the PVC piping and have banned me from hanging out with them. (haters).
The turbo is a T3/T4B 60trim 60AR with a stage 2 clipped turbine wheel in a 48AR exhaust housing. The turbo begins spooling at 3000rpms and gets 10psi at 4500 rpms. The OBX manifold has cracks big enough to fit the tip of a screw driver through. It is killing my spool up time and the rubber couplings that join the PVC to the turbo compressor keeps blowing loose after so many runs. ` Overall it is a very fun car to drive at part throttle or half throttle. Full throttle just blows the tires off resulting in standing still no traction wheel spins. Give me somemore feedback and on the setup. Pros and cons. |
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
looks damn good, it sounds like all you need is some mandrels, a new mani and some drag radials and you'll be good to go ;D

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
that fuelline running down the kickboard/plate is classic..... even my local redneck track would probobly give the thumbsdown on that.

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
So you got rid of the ZC?
|
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
I'd personally be worried about pvc. But hey w/e. ;)

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
Semnos, I'm surprised you can remember that I was initially going with the ZC. Just remember, there is no replacement for displacement. I have the fuel line running where the factory fuel line was. I get alot of slack about my entire setup because it is unorthodox and goes against every rich ricer boy setup in the book.
My goal is to lighten the car to 1600 lbs so that I don't need plenty HP to get into the 11's and 10's. This car was built for a purpose, the destruction of the rich ricer guys that charge it to the moms or have great high paying jobs and devote all of their money into buying and breaking things on their car to see whether it made more power. I prefer to call my car "NEO" 8) |

Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
Oh nyc86zc you got his D16A1 eh???
Nice it's sleeved :o :o. What kind of pistons are those? damn that looks nice man. And B16destroyer i like your setup it look really clean.even the PVC looks clean man. I ran PVC my first time to and I head ducttape hold it together ;D. I might use the PVC again, but without the ducttape. It's cheap and it works and it's light....good weight reduction. |
Re:B16Destroyer's Turbo B18 87Crx (Lots of Pics)
NYC86ZC has my D16A1 with the Golden Eagle Gorilla Sleeves, Eagle H-Beam rods, and Endyne Wiseco Roller Wave Pistons. That Block can handle 40+psi of boost.
My loss was his gain. The PVC is good to 200psi and is held together by PVC cement. Once they are joined they'll never come aloose. I'm having trouble with my avator. I have my pics on imagestation but everytime I try putting a pic on HMT it doesn't show. I anyone knows what I am doing wrong please help. I have tons of hot pics to share ;) |

all you do is hit the image tag next to the envelope with arrows around when you are replying, it will look like [ img][ img], then you copy the url from the pic., just cut the url from your browser address box and come back here and paste it between the two img tags
