b16a2
New on here. I have a stock b16a2, let a friend drive and ended up destroying my tranny. completely shot. only thing thats in good condition is the housing...This is completely on me, I know. so i dont need smart remarks, I'm already paying for it . ok sooo I need to know if there is an alternative tranny I could use on my b16a2, it is in the 2000 si. Can anybody help b/c from what I here from mechs. it will cost about 2-3k for repair.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a b series tranny? I know my tranny before had short gears and I hated 5th b/c i would be doing 65/70 mph and rpm's were at 4500. So to solve that issue I've been told i can put an ls 5th for cruising, which should take me down to 2700 rpm @70. Is this true?

I have a b16a2. They don't have the ***** for an LS trany with the taller gears. Stick with the si, gsr or type-R trany. The shorter gear ratios are better matched to this engine and help it make use of it's higher rpm efficiency.
The engine is designed to run at higher rpms for for efficiency and power. Running at 4500rpm on the highway all day is no sweat for this engine. It is VERY efficient.
I get mid to high 30mph+ on average per tank, easy.
Don't put in an ls trany with this engine, you'll hate it.
