b16 tranny?
Hello, I am designing and building a tube chass frame, similair to an ariel atom, but want to put a b16 in it, because that is what i have laying around. One thing I am worried about is the shift linkage, but i noticed there are some people putting b series motors in the back of a del sol. I don't know how the shift linkage works on, and how it connects to the motor. If anyone has a pick of a shift linkage hooked up or knows how the guys in the del sols did it, it would be appreciated.

Re: b16 tranny?
I think one of the guys doing the mid engine Integra made his own modeled after NSX shifter cable setup..do a search over on HT, there are 2-3 rear and mid engine swaps currently in progress

Re: b16 tranny?
I think the one you are talking about, i've seen over at HT but he used an H22 motor which has a cable shifter didn't he?
thanks, pete |
Re: b16 tranny?
They use lots of cable shifter conversions on vw beetle trans in mid engine sand rails, maybe they could give you some clues/ideas?

Re: b16 tranny?
yeah, trying to stay with the lighter b16 plus i already have one laying around. I did find some guy that put a b18 in the back of a del sol, it was in some magazine so i assume it can be done.

Re: b16 tranny?
the power and torque of the h22 will definately make up for the little weight it adds. plus its a better platform if you wanna boost
