b16 block with ls head

i got a 2000 b16 block from a friend and i have seen cheap port and polished ls heads with like 3 angle valve job or something to that extint. anyways i was wondering if you could put an ls head on the b16 block and still use the oil squirters in the block. i wanted to run some fat cams and i want say stuff like vtec killer and stuff since a lot of the guys a hang with run turbo cars and make fun of my single vtec. anyways what do you guys think of that. it might be a little stupid but its somethin i havent seem. let me here what you think. thanks brandon

If you can but a b16 head on a ls block I don't see why you couldnt do the opposite, but honestley why the ---- would you want to?

well got the block for free the ls head is cheaper and donthave to worry about the vtec soliniod and that stuuf and i the block is gonna have like gsr crank and rods with teg type r cams and probably a nice shot of nitrous. i just wanted to hear some opinions

Re:b16 block with ls head

vtec camshafts will not work in a ls head.

for your info, hmotorsonline sells complete b16a longblocks for 599 plus ship. i had a quote of 175 to ship, total would be 774 shipped to your door, ready to party.

im sure you can sell the b16a block and stuff and cover at least half of that cost. so itll be a b16a long block for 3 and change delivered....cant beat that

Why wouldn't he just keep the block he has? ::)

He said fat cams/vtec killer which is not vtec cams. They are cams that get rid of(kill) the vtec function.

edit: oops I was thinking of a B16 head not an ls. No need for vtec killer in that I guess.

Re:b16 block with ls head

well im talking about building this motor up pretty good and i was gonna run some vtec killer cams like from toda or something and go non vtec but with that block and stroke it snd some other good stuff iagain just wanted to hear thoughts about it. i know about the long blocks and stuff i want to build something different and be like to all these stupid ricers around what its non vtec because the think vtec makes you a god or something like that its a cool sound on a dohc when it hits but why not just have the fatt cams all the time in a non vtec

Re:b16 block with ls head

I understand the not wanting to go vtec but I would sell the block and get a B18. You can't beat displacement.

Re:b16 block with ls head

you would be better off using a vtec head with some huge cams cause they flow more air

Re:b16 block with ls head

Most people give away LS heads so if you had a B series block you wanted to boost for the ---- of it without spending $67,983 on a B16 head, you could do it.

Why not have a shitty ass idle, and no torque below 4 grand and probably run like ---- half the time? Well, because in 1989 Honda invented VTEC, yes its simply amazing.. smooth ass idle, excellent powerband and great top end. Why does the top 3 fastest All motor b-series all still use vtec? I dont know.. ask them... ask Ericks racing why he used Vtec killer cams from toda, and then switched back to some Spec C's that had vtec? It's simple.. Vtec works, a nice set of vtec cams from Skunk2/Jun or maybe you want to stick with Factory ITR/CTR ----. Either way you will be happy.

Reversing the torqeless b16a into a Non-vtec is just stupid. Unless you cannot find a vtec head and you can not wait to drive your car.. Fine, but I really would not suggest it. For one, your going to have to reverse the procedure. I would assume you would have to drill out the dowls on the head so you can get them to fit. You say your going to run a GSR crank, GSR RODS and GSR pistons? B16a's have a shorter deck height than B18's. Are you going to weld a Deck plate on your B16a? the pistons are gonna stick out of the block. Ok lets say your going to keep the b16a crank, and b16a rods and use GSR pistons with your B16a/LS.. Now you have a compression ratio of 8.6, that with your 50-75 shot of "THE NAWZ" You might be able to beat a bone stock gsr.

Do it right the first time, Stick with vtec, go with a good set of cams, Maybe some high compression CTR pistons. I perfer the GSR head, but in all honesty I would go for whatever is cheaper.

Re:b16 block with ls head

AFAIK vtec killer cams will not fit in an LS head anyway.

there are reasons for killing vtec on an N/A motor, but drag racing ISN'T one of them.

I think you need to do some more research before youstart to undertake this endeavor. to say the absolute least
