I was in the same boat you are, stuck in college realizing you dont want to be a nerd for the rest of you're life. I thought about automotive but after seing the shitty wages and seriously who wants to work on cars for a living? Maybe if you find a niche but def. not at a dealership. I went into aircraft maintenance and couldnt be happier, the work is fun, the pay is good, and I get to work on the most exclusive business jets in the world.

Re: Automotive major?
At Rutgers everyone refered to Diff EQ/Linear Algebra at Calc 4 and Calc 5 is "Advanced Calculus". I only took up to Diff Eq/Linear Algebra since I was a Civil Engineering major, but Mechanical and Electrical definitely had to take Calc 5 aka Advanced Calculus.

How much of that do you need to know? Next to nothing. Computers basically do it all once you get in the work force. I don't know of a certified engineering school which doesn't make you take at least differential equations to get a BS in engineering. So basically I'm suggesting, if you only have to take Calc 2, you probably have a worthless degree. ----, to get an A.S. in engineering you generally have to take Diff EQ so there is no way you can get away with taking just Calc 2 and have a "real" engineering degree.

I explained what the major is about. I'm not much into math and I'd never finish college if that's all it was going to be.

I think all the material is the same but they probably split things up differently where you go.
