autometer boost gauge.
Has anyone had the problem of their boost gauge uncalibrating? mines stuck at -3 inhg. is there a way you can fix it ??? or do I have to go get a new gauge.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
Mine defaults to 0.5 psi, I dunno if you can fix it.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
is it gel filled? random-strike has one that is, and it would never be at zero.... the gel all leaked out, and once it was gone it was calibrated correctly

Re: autometer boost gauge.

"Hold on, I gotta bleed it again..." lol it DOES work perfect now, all the gel is gone :P |
Re: autometer boost gauge.
never had an issue with mine. dont think you can fix it. just buy a new one if your so worried about it :P

Re: autometer boost gauge.
mine works perfect now without any gel in it.
it was a total POS when it had gel. it would rest between 0 and 10 vacuum LOL |
Re: autometer boost gauge.
I used to have a autometer boost gauge, sometimes it will read to the exact boost settings, and sometimes it was stuck at 5 psi, it was brand new, I got it replaced and then I was having problem with line getting crushed and cause boost leak. it sucks. I had the zeitronix hooked up and it was reading the correct boost while autometer was off by 75%
so I bought a greddy gauge and never had a problem since |
Re: autometer boost gauge.
Ive been rocking the same Autometer boost gauge since 99'. Its done me good :1
Never been stuck, and seems to read correctly. Although, the one in my Wagon reads a bit diff from the one in my CRX. Ive had them both hooked up at the same time, and my Wagon gauge is about 2" of vacuum off. |
Re: autometer boost gauge.
On the instructions it says that one of the powe wires needs to get power on ignition, but NOT cut off while the motor is turning over or it will uncalibrate the damn gauge. LIke how the cdplayer cuts off when you turn the key/ignitiono over. You need a power source that doesnt turn off for a second when u start the car.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
mine sits at 1psi when teh car is off. right back to 24in-hg at idle though. I'm gonna be buying a digital gauge soon enough.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
------- sweet, thanks man.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
nice.. thats the not electronic gauge right? cause mine reads 2psi vac all the time when sitting
|
Re: autometer boost gauge.
the wires going to it are just for the light and nothing else. its not an electronic gauge, its mechanical.

Re: autometer boost gauge.
maybe this should be added to the forced induction faq's

Re: autometer boost gauge.
I bought one off eBay that read 2 PSI of boost at equilibrium. Turbo project got totalled and everything was for sale. I contacted Autometer about the problem (as it was new in box) and they said it could be serviced by them and the only cost to me would be shipping to them. The vwvortex link looks like an easy fix tho.
