We need to let the companies go bankrupt so that they can restructure and get out from under their poor decisions. Why bail them out while they keep the business plans that got them into this situation.
When a company files for bankruptcy, the ability to get credit actually goes up after. Once they restructure it is like they have fixed the problems. The company is much more credit worthy than before.

Re: auto bailout....
the unions are to blame, and the companies are only to blame as much as they caved to the unions over and over.
the unions blocked GM and ford from bringing their small cars they make in europe over here, because all of cars sold in the us by the big three have to be made in the us by the uaw

Doesnt GM have plants in Canada and Mexico? I do recall seeing quite a few "2" and "3" first digit VINs on more than one GM vehicle.
Or are you just trying to be sarcastic?

Yes there are I think around 7 or so GM plants in Canada that make some of the supply of most of all there products around 7-800K units a year.Mexico as well i think makes about 10-15% of there vehicles for the North American market.Mexico they pay about $3-4 a hour vs 28-30 in the US and Canada

its the european divisions they won't allow those cars that are made and designed there to be sold in the US.

Ford has a nice selection of cars/suv's that are for today's world. Unless gm has something in europe I dont know about, I dont think they have a shot in hell of being around this time next year. Then comes about the splitting/selling of brands of gm. Should be fun.

Re: auto bailout....
i work in the auto repair side of the industry I've notice a HUGE drop in service on vehicles. we're letting people go because its getting real bad.
and i can't help but wonder if any of the 3 big were to go down. would it affect the repair field in anyway.
the very fact people don't buy cars helps the industry. but if the big 3 goes down. what about the repair field. will they see the carnage too?
