My girlfriend bought me gears of war for pc on valentines day. She was in alabama till today, so i just got it. I try installing it and it says i need a driver update to run it. It gives me the update, and an install. I installed it, and tried it again. Didn't work. So i updated it, and tried it again. Didn't work. Im not sure what driver it wants me to update though. If it helps, its a gateway m1617 with windows vista, amd turion 64x2, ati radeon graphics card. Im just typing what the stickers say on the laptop, so i don't know the details. The thing it wanted me to download is ATI Catalyst driver revision 8.411.0.0, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried to go to amd.com but i don't know exactly what im looking for here. Someone help me out here please. Its a really cool valentines day present and i want to play it bad.

try downloading direct x 10.

there are known gfx issues with vista and some ati cards such as yours.

loose vista... lol...

try uninstalling the old radeon driver before installing the new one...If it doesnt run, try going into safe mode. It should run there.

im not too computer illiterate so uninstalling a driver sounds too complicated for me. And seeing how i absolutely need my laptop for school work, if i ---- it up, im fucked all around. Has anybody else had this problem. I googled it and found a lot of people who have had the problem with gears of war wanting this update, but nobody gives a straight forward answer or a link to where i can get that update to actually work.

If you do not install this software, at some point the game will stop and your progress will be lost.

So i click next and it brings this up.

So I click install

It goes on to install screen and gives me 3 options, Install, update, and uninstall. I have done the update and install already, not the uninstall. Should i try it? and will it ---- up something i need?
