does this include "New Army Advantage Fund - up to $40,000 toward home purchase or Small Business start-up" and "Student Loan Repayment Program" ? think the recruter just straight up lied to my ass

The Army Announces New Enlistment Bonuses

Army now offering more than $50,000 in incentives for 2-year enlistment, raising maximum bonus for 3-year enlistment to $25,000

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command has introduced new enlistment incentives -- up to $51,864 -- for a two-year enlistment in more than 45 active Army military occupational specialties. In addition, the maximum combined enlistment bonus for a three-year enlistment was raised to $25,000 for all military occupational specialties.
Two-year enlistments

Qualified recruits who enlist for two years plus training are eligible for an enlistment bonus of up to $15,000, which can be combined with the Montgomery GI Bill and Army College Fund of $36,864. These incentives are available to qualified recruits who enlist in one of more than 45 job specialties, including fire support specialist (13F), signal support systems specialist (25U), petroleum supply specialist (92F), pharmacy specialist (68Q) and health care specialist (68W).
Three-year enlistments
The Army also raised the maximum combined bonus for three-year enlistments to $25,000 for all military specialties. Previously, the maximum amount for a three-year enlistment was $10,000, and $20,000 for a limited number of priority MOSs.

Payment of bonuses for which recruits qualify will begin once they have completed basic combat and advanced individual training. To learn more about Army opportunities, visit your local Army recruiter. Click here for assistance with locating the nearest Army recruiter.

your bonus depends on your score and your mos. they tax the ---- out of your bonus, pay you half up front, and the remainder is paid out in installments once a year for the remainder of your enlistment.

you will get no more than 25k for a signing bonus, and you can take 30-35% of that and give it right back to uncle sam.... the rest of the ---- is entirely negotiable- seriously. remember, it's not only the recruiter's job to sign you up, it's also his job to do so while giving you the least amount of money possible. treat it like you're buying a used car- be ------- skeptical, and don't sign a goddamn thing until it says exactly what you want.

It looks like you can qualify for $15k which when combined with the college fund ads up to $51k. So only 15k in cash. How my enlistment bonus worked was half after my A school. Then the other half after I finished prototype school. That was in the navy though. Reenlistment bonuses work on the half up front and then portions once a year over the years that you reenlisted for.

All branches are a little different. ;)
in the grand ole Marine Corps, you get your bonus, one lump sum within about 2 weeks of ------- yourself.

enlistment bonses come after your MOS (job) school

the first enlistment for the army comes in payments 1/3 up front and the rest in payments over the term of your service

example" in my contract 6-2 plan so 6 years of obligation duty, 2 years of inactive duty.

when I first signed up you first sign up it's payed 1/3 in that first 2 weeks. then biannually i got 1/3 payemnt. for up to my 6 years of obligation. so i got all my money at my 4th year of service.

also btw if you leave the army you have to pay it back.

however if you reenlist (as already been in service) you'll get all your reenlistment bonus without waiting.

also don't join the military you dick face

I got half of my enlistment bonus after completion of AIT, then 2 years later I got a 1/4 of whats left of it, 2 years after that I get the other 1/4. School money isn't garunteed, its a slush fund. I waited too long to get my application in for tuition and they "ran out of money" so I didn't get my semester paid for. You can use the tuition assitance up to your cap amount, says "40k". So if you spend 4 years in college @ 10k tuition, then if you need a 5th year, it won't be paid for. MGI bill is monthly income given for you being in school and maintaining a certain GPA. In my contract its good for 36 months, plus I received a kicker which adds extra money on the base allowance for the GI bill.

Word of advice? don't join for the money, its not worth it. You will regret your decision. I joined for the discipline/structure as my life was headed no where. I think the Army is a big ------- inconvenience sometimes but I don't regret enlisting.
