Arizona Race & Machine Twin Trac LSD install w/ extra pics
Well, I finally got my Twin Trac LSD unit from AzRace last week and I had some time to throw it in my red car (b20 crvtec turbo) yesterday.
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/azrace1.jpg The unit itself looked very well machined. The color pics and tech write up directions are incredibly easy for a newbie to install this in there tranny. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/azrace2.jpg This is my tranny 92 YS1 Cable LS tranny https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/azrace3.jpg Here is the diff and ring gear https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/azrace4.jpg a shot with the unit installed. After that, I put everything all back together and went out for a test drive. My first impressions were similar to when I had the phantom grip. "yes you can feel something is there, but how good is it working?" Well, my traction issues are still there, in 1st and half way through 2nd. But I no longer can do 3rd gear burnouts. Something really nice that I can notice is when doing good turns/corners and mashing on the gas it really keeps glued to the road. My honest opinion? I was hoping for results like with a welded diff or true lsd, but realistically that’s just not going to happen. It defiantly does help, and for the price you cannot argue! If your on a HMT budget I would defiantly suggest one. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/azrace5.jpg And I didn’t forget to put the sticker on ;) the van gets all the sweet stickers, LOL https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/van/vanrpi.jpg John Ward doesn’t even know it, but he sponsors my Ford econoline van! hahaha, all the local Everett mullets will be hitting RPI racing for aftermarket components for their raper vans. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/twin2.jpg awh, all my babies in my driveway https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/twin1.jpg Taking the ZC engine out, it has been sold locally :) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/ride/89si2/gauge.jpg And I finally installed a good boost gauge in my red car, I always had the small one jammed in the center console laying sideways.. What’s really interesting is that when I went for a test drive I noticed the new gauge only showed I was boosting 9psi, where as the other gauge was showing 11?! ??? Makes me kinda wonder what I was really boosting at on the dyno, hmmm! Jeff |

Nice. Is there an easy way to get the diff out? I think I'm going about it the wrong way. You had to take both of the gear shafts out, right?

Easy way? ya.. take the shift linkage mechinism off, then take the reverse gear off. then lift up on both shafts, and they come right out. Piece of cake.
