I would think that if he just bought it, that he wouldn't have to pay them, but it probably varies by state.

Google probably has all the answers, if not his state DMV website.

Even better, call their DMV and I'm sure they can answer it better than anyone here.

why would you owe money for time the vehicle wasn't registered? Since when does a vehicle constantly have to be registered/tagged if it is not in use?

I was a week late to fill a non operation permit for my civic I sent in payment 2 dollars short. I ended up getting a bill from the state of california for over 200 dollars 2 years later

California=wasteland

Oh you also to recycle metals you have to have pictures of the goods your bringing in has well has pictures of the car taken by the metal recycler. This applies to copper,aluminium any metal of value. Also print out of your drivers lisc and a 3 day wait period so you have to drive back. :1. All goes into a file incase the police want to file theft claims against you or the company

California they are trying there hardest to make this the worst place to live in america.

i've read that in california if the back registration is over a certain amount of years then you only have to pay upto that set amount of years. i heard the amount of years was 7.

HOWEVER, this is something i read on a forum with a bunch of dumbass members. so it might not be even close to right.

They're doing a pretty damn good job. I think the icing on the cake is the lack of funds for tax returns... disgusting.

This new recycling law is a ------ joke. You have to drive back 3 days later to get paid so they can verify its not stolen. For a state that claims to be for recycling they sure make it difficult enough. There is also a plan to add 2 dollars to a pack of cigs, tax gas more and well thats just the start.

I was talking with the lady who runs the office and she was showing me all these checks people are never going to drive to get. Most wouldnt even cover gas. ------ sad you cant even bring in scrap metal without being fucked with.
