Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
I bought a 94 hatchback with a 1.6 D16Z6 swap yesterday and I was noticing on it today that it was made in Canada. Are these the same as the US models, if not what are the differences? It's a 5 speed and it will have a turbo on it as soon as I take care of some regular maintenance on it.

Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
I've seen a few civics that have the made in canada. I think they were just made there, still a usdm version.

Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
it's the same. post some pics :)
you said swap. so is that a dx/vx/cx??? |
Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
I have no idea if it's a cx,vx or dx because it has no badges on it. I can tell you that it has no options at all, it's the stripped down version. I'll snap some pics tomorrow but I'll have to figure out how to post them.

only difference must be the cluster in KM/H and the headlight that are always on...

Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
I think every Civic I've ever owned had a Canadian sticker on it. God damn Canadians putting stickers on my cars. >:(

Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
Cars made here and shipped to the states would still be US spec, not Canadian spec.
We also have the Acura 1.6el :D Stan |
Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
My Civic also has the Canadian venerial disease. When I first got it, it had flannel interior, was really boring and wouldn't stop saying A-bUt

You can check to see the model by checking the VIN number if you are really concerned about it though. |

Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
a buddy of mine had a 93 Ex civic which was canadian made and he could shift it at 8000 rpm on his stock ecu, I don't know if it was a rare fluke or what? I used to take mine to 7800 but couldn't get that last 200 out of her

Ouch! Civic Ex in canada have the d15 engine... Civic from 92-95 in Canada that have vtec are Civic vx (d15z1) 1992 to 1995 Civic si hatch (d16z6) 1992 1993 Civic Ex-V 4 door (d16z6) 1992 (very rare) Civic si coupe (d16z6) 1993 1994 1995 |
Re:Anything good/ bad about the Canadian hatchback civics?
Don't remember any of those shifting at 8000, let alone 7800 on the stock ecu, or stock valvetrain. I have never encountered a civic that wasn't either made in japan or canada. All the 5th gens I have seen have the made in canada sticker. That's where they were made, they dont have any special canadian redlines or engines, as if that would be a good thing if they did.

......but ---- you, you ------- Canadian pile of ----. :P Never heard of the EX-V honestly. Odd I haven't. Most people by the CDM CX and swap a z6 in if they don't have much cash. Like me. |
