Yes it's 2x as easy, and you can get just as good of a job with half the fuss. The white car is my track bitch and the black car was my DD, I took my time on the black car made sure everything was even etc. With the rollers it takes like 2-3 coats before the paint even begins to "cover" anything, it's laid on really really thin every coat because you thin out the rustoleum to a water like consistency. I did sand on the black car once after 4 coats and I put down 8 coats... It was as smooth as glass and it's a good thing because I couldn't sand it or it would have worn through easily, the paint was too thin. It still needed about 8 more coats to be good enough to wet sand and polish(another 4 days work)

The white car I didn't take as much time with... I also sprayed it without a dryer or a filter on the air line so alot less care was taken. But I can say the paint is 2x as thick with half the work. I laid down a coat, lightly wet sanded it and sprayed it the next day. I plan on final wet sanding it and getting my buddy to compound it to make it shiny. That last pic is just the last coat, no sanding etc so there is some peel, runs and other blemishes that I still have to remove.

Spraying it is win. Less work, Less time and same final results.. Use mineral spirits to reduce it same as if you plan on rolling it.

Unless of course you like spending like 10 hours painting a car.

I have a few more pics of the different stages if you wanna get an idea on both methods.

that car was done with rustoleum...I would suggest you paint a small section at first to get a feel for it. I found that earlier coats should be thicker and as you add more coats, you should go thinner with each one. That car had 10 or 12 coats on it...i dont remember. I would do one coat, let it flash, then do a second, then sand it. I never did the final sanding/buffing. You need a lot of motivation to do it right. sanding it all off takes for ever.

Also a guy who paints for a living in my neighborhood was very impressed with the quality of the rustoleum paint in general. He bought a can to play around with and he claims it works just as well as certain automotive paints do

Yes, you have to roll it on multiple times to get a decent finish

so you just sprayed rustoleum, waited for it to partially dry then cleaned it with mineral spirits before another coat

Spray/roll it on, let it dry, wetsand lightly to get rid of the bumps and dirt, and then respray/roll

Repeat as necessary.
