anyone know how to repair ecm's ?

i got a 93 geo tracker 4wd 5 speed off someone but it runs f'ed up (1 cyl dont fire at all, studders sometimes while driving), i did some searching on the internet cause i dont have the car here to mess with, and found they seem to have shitty mitsubishi computers "ecm"s that have shitty parts. places all over the internet charge like $200 for you to send it to them and do some kinda repair thats probly simple as hell. probly solder some 5 cent ---- on there.

someone even sells the info on ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MakeTrack=true

which i may or may not buy, anyone know ---- about this? maybe someone on here has delt with this problem before and knows exactly what to do.. thought it was worth a shot. the problem may not be the ecm forsure i dont know yet.. but i guess its a known problem

when i get it home im gona check fuel n spark of course try to see why one cylinder is not workin.. maybe compression test it see if its moving i dont know.. any ideas would be great im no great mechanic

I don't understand how an "ECM" could cause only one cylinder to ---- up.

If it's anything like a mitsubishi ecm good luck HOPEFULLY you caught it in enough time and the leaking capacitors didnt erode the motherboard. If that's the case you can spend some change on ebay and get the right ones and give someone like 20 bucks to desolder\resolder the ---- in. If you didnt catch it in time youll have to get a new ecm with the parts replaced or get a clean one and replace them yourself. :-\

try teamswift.net or your local jy for another. and you should definetly boost that thing. i boosted mine but it was auto and the trans died after a week of burnouts. but baldur is running about 17psi on a stock block with milled pistons

WTF, I repaired one (1) Tracker ECU circa '98. Real easy, pop the ECU covers and look at the board. 75% you'll see burnt up component or see a crack in a solder joint (lighted magnifying glasses rule for this)

There's a difference between the ECU in a Mitsu, built by Mitsu, and an ECM built for GM/Suzuki by Mitsu. Sort of like how Fram filters suck, yet they make the high quality OEM Honduh units per Honduh specs. You don't see cap leakage on the Suzuki items.

98 PCM's are OBD2, the 93 is OBD1, two VERY DIFFERENT PCM's.

most likely, the injector driver is starting to go or has already went.
