i just picked up a 89 mustang 5.0 about a week ago it runs nice (it's cool drivin a v-8, but gas prices aint cool) well the coolant overflow tank has a leak in it, i went to the junkyard and autozone and even napa... no one has a replacement for it, so my next idea is to find somethin to seal the leaks....any ideas?

Get marine epoxy. It will seal it up. It has to be clean and dry before you put it on. it helps to rough it up with some sand paper first.

would this hold up to the temp of warm coolant in the overflow?? and where can i find marine epoxy?i thought about that(---- jb weld worked for my blow off) but would it work on the plastic overflow??would this work for the plactic bottle?where could i get this at? and would it work on high heat? and plastic?

JB weld works for everything.

Just pick-up a normal set of 5-45 min epoxy. (JB weld is just an epoxy with tiny flakes of steel in it. It's not the best, especially when not used on a metal).
Be sure to clean the plastic with some rubbing, or denatured alcohol. Afterwards, lightly scuff the plastic up so the epoxy has a good chance to grab.


If you have a large slit, or tear, it's best to grab some fiberglass cloth & put it across the tear. Apply the epoxy to the cloth, then squeegy most of it back off.
