I see alot of people using uberdata with a D16Z6 (obd1) but what else do you do to tune the vehicle?? --i mentioned in this in my uberdata thread in the management discussion, but didnt get much of a response.

I'm a noob when it comes to Uberdata, but from what i've been reading, Uberdata is all you need to tune it, along with a wideband to know what your a/f ratio is.

yeah, you need something to refernce between what the engine is doing and what the ecu thinks it is doing. If you notice the wb02 is reading too rich at some point on the rpm range, then you lean out the values in the tuning software and burn another chip... The problem with this is getting alot of different trouble spots(rich/lean)read on the wbo2 while looking at the tach to record what rpm it was at. You'll end up burning alot of chips to get a good tune this way; then datalogging came along, just plug a laptop into the wb02 and the ecu, make a run, and boom you've got a total refernce of all the wbo2 readings vs. the ecu's rpm table, makes tuning alot easier, atleast that's what I've read.

To tune Uberdata, its like tuning anything else. You really need to know your A/F and you need a dyno to get the most out of it. BBKA is using a D16Z6 and his map is available, but only use it as a reference. I am going to try other peoples maps just to play around. Then its off to the Dyno. I should finish my setup late this week into next week.

DSM 1st gen BOV
OBD II to OBDI conversion harness
P06 ECU chipped running Uberdata ( working stock right now)
3 wire to 2 wire Iac conversion
Y7 w/Y8 intake.

I'll post if I get it done.

Yes you need a burner to actually write the info on the chip.
Im using the Willems and it works fine. Another cheap one that people are using is the Burn1 from Moates.net or whatever...
