Anyone going to SEMA?...

I know it's not really the place for people like us, but I'm gonna check out expensive/shiny stuff that I'll never use...

If any of you kids are gonna be there I'll be wearing my hmt shirt... Also if anyone has some fun questions for specific people post them up...

SEMA was a waste last year...I'm taking a year off and only going to PRI this year.

Jeff, Beau, and Ted will be there this year, but they will be the only ones representing TunerToys this year as we will not be going ourselves.

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

How do you get into SEMA?

TunerToys 11-04-2008 01:17 PM

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

You have to be a part of the industry, retailer, shop, manufacturer, media, etc., in order to register attendees.

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

I can afford to go to PRI, but I'm afraid I'll come back and starve. :-\

Yah. He would just have to register. Some years they require folks to prove they are an employee of the company that they are attending with. Attendance is off with the economy, so there was no check for that this year.

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

Well from what people who went told me it was a total bust for buyers. Lots of CDM knock offs with guys who dont speak Engrish.

SkunT 11-08-2008 08:56 PM

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

Well, everything else in this country has gone CDM, why not our parts, too?

Its getting really bad has of left at SEMA. Good news China has stopped buying our metal. Maybe we will be able to produce products again with material costs dropping sharply shortly :y

Best part a buddy of mine spoke to one with could speak english they wanted 10,000 up front to run some transmission parts with no prototypes. YOu buy now!

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

As soon as the chinese field a worthy racecar, I'll consider buying chinese parts.

You could almost taste the economic fears in the air .. It was definitely different then previous years. I couldn't believe the ratio of exhibitors to buyers either .. Half the time it seemed that the only people walking around were exhibitors.

SOOOOO Glad I didnt waste the money/time this year.

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

I'm thinking this year may be the one year to avoid for any of the shows. Lets face it, most existing businesses aren't looking to grow their business right now. They are just trying to keep their doors open.

Tom-Guy 11-09-2008 09:06 PM

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

Which makes it a great year to go to the shows if you are Joey & Co.

Full disclosure after PRI.

Bah, legit businesses are one thing...fly by night shops that make $5 on a $1000 product and drop ship everything are another.

Have you been to PRI? Hardcore racers dont worry about the economy...this is a hard core racers shows and it will be pimp :)

Join us on the East Coast!

Re: Anyone going to SEMA?...

PRI is a form of excellence. There are a pile of OEMs there, the NGK "booth" is larger than Garrett's and very fappable.
