Anyone else hate doing a death test.. I mean compression test?

My motor was feeling weak today and I had to do a compression test. Its all good 210 straight across, but ----.. it scared the crap out of me. I was having flash back of pulling a spark plug full of oil out of the motor. That test is about the only thing that I really hate doing. I checked #3 first.. after that it got easier.

lol, chicken. Sometimes I don't even like looking under the hood because it's usually "Where the ---- is all that oil coming from?" or "Where did my air filter go?" or "How am I going to get home now?" :-\

lol, I like to save #3 for last, kinda the anti-climax of the event. #1 good, #2 good yea....haaa, #4 good ohh baby, #3 ---- ---- mother of christ

90...ouch.

Both times that I had broken ringlands....the dead hole was at 110-130, compared to 200 for the good holes.

Now im back to 210,200,200,210 :-*

Good luck with the tear down. :)

Is #3 the one that always goes? On my NA motor I've got 50PSI on #3 but it still seems to run OK.

no bud, that's not good on any kind of motor :o

Well I know it's not good. It's got a leaking exhaust valve. Makes for some nice backfires on rundown. Almost like I've got anitlag :)

This is just the junker motor... I've got a spare in my basement that I can build up and use to fab some parts for.

50 psi sounds more like you forgot to open the throttle on that one, otherwise you're just screwed.

:-[my #3 was lower than the others, but only like 10 lower. i just hate when the damn socket falls off and it takes like an hour and a half to get it out :-\

Last time I checked I was 200,200,190,200 Not bad for 170K miles

That was about 5 months ago. What is the deal with cylinder 3 being lower?

Re:Anyone else hate doing a death test.. I mean compression test?

#3 is usually the the lowest or the first to go, since its usually the hotest, thats why alot of people drop there EGT right off #3.
