most people who have brands did the ---- w/ a coat hanger heated on thier stove, of course it will look like ---- if you do it wrong. if you actually learn how to do it properly(type of metal, depth of burn, AFTERCARE) it is less dangerous than a tattoo. uneven heat and depth causes then to look like ----, a 1st or 2nd degree burn scars differently then a 3rd degree, thats why the finished pruduct is lumpy and takes longer to heal.

Dude, ---- branding. Go for scarification.

I live in Freak Town, USA. I've seen a number of brands gone wrong. Flat out, burns have serious infection potential and unless you want to cut out all the partially cooked meat (which might ruin the nice crisp endges to your brand) you are going to have infection problems, period. It's ------- stupid.

Scarification is different. You cut the flesh a couple layers deep and slather on an ANTIBIOTIC paste with an abiotic pigment added. It still looks somewhat crude and manly which is what I figure you're going for with your first son, you get a little choice in color, it heals pretty quick, and your arm won't rot off. Win-win situation, dude.

the of cutting seems a bit too Emo for me, that and the scars dont usually raise like a brand unless you cut through all the layers of skin. i pondered the idea of ash rubbing (mad hippy style ) but they end up looking like shitty tattos


having a brand with the striking side back cut like /\ instead of l l or \/ is supposed help with making cleaner lines.

I have to say that branding doesnt sound too fun. I myself got a tattoo of my sons initials on my forearm . I guess its different strokes for different folks so if you like that kind of thing do it. YOu seem to have your heart set on doing it so go for it. Dont let any of these guys deter you if you really made your mind up.

Personally if i got older and seen my father branded himself for me I think he was crazy lol I be like "Don't that do that to animals?" :P
