Anybody here know how to get through this lock on my building's cable box?
 

Our cable box out back used to not be locked, free cable was nice 8) But someday my cable stopped working, and I go to the box to see that it has a lock on it now. Here's a pic of it:

It's just a cylinder with a hole on the end, and if you look closely you can see a hole in the side of it too. I've never encountered a lock like this before. Does anybody know what kind of tool I could use to take it off or unlock it?

Take a flat head sweardriver thats alittle bigger then the hole. Nail it in the hole with a hammer. Then get something you are grip the screwdrivers with and turn

so your saying it just screws out? sounds kinda odd, but if it is true then couldn't you just stick something in the side hole and turn it?

Ya I know, it was just my first thought.

What type of hinge is on the other side of the door, We pulled the pin out of a Piano hinge style once.

It's just a cover that slides straight out, the other side has the exact same hole except there is no lock in it.

The ones in Phx aren't the same but similar. I use to do Telephony while I was in school and we used this screwdriver looking thing that would put pressure on both sides of the lock allowing it to be unscrewed. You can't just buy the tool tho.

Way to Rawr!! I guess it was 6 years ago that I did that kind of work. Figures now a company is helping us stick it to the man!!

Then you'll need a term. tool to get the thing off the CATV jack point inside the box

mine fell off the cable truck and it does both ;D But i have no illegal cable. since i have roadrunner. Its good for the occasinal 50 spot from new home owners.

I don't understand. The whole thing is held on by that one lock, once I get it off what do I need a term. tool for?

There is a secondary lock generally put on the little threaded part on the feed line by the cable company. Just a redundancy.

Well we are getting cable internet, so the line is hooked up. They just put some blockers on the line to block the actualy cable tv signal that I need to remove.
