Default Got My Car

Hey guys i finally got my car. It's a 1989 Honda Prelude. Not exactly a Civic or a CRX but hey i love it. i got it for $550 and the only things wrong were:
- Small tear in backseat
- Worn out headlight actuator
- Speakers are going out
- Dented up left front fender from a blowout
and
- The speedometer doesnt work ( only a minor problem )

Other then thats its in good shape it has a few ding here and ther but what do you expect, and it only has 161,XXX miles on it. Oh yeah, i got a question, when you press in the clutch i dont think you have to press it down all the way to the floor, but in this car i do and then there is like a delay cause when i ease off of it it takes a second for it to start rolling. Is that a problem?

Hehehe, have you driven a manual shift before? yeah you have to put the clutch pedal to the floor for it to engage. And about halfway up when releasing the pedal is when you should feel the car actually in the gear selected. So bassically down to the floor to shift, and then release the clutch pedal all the way before hitting the gas again. Remember not to drag out the clutch... this will cause it to wear out much faster. The quicker you can puch in the clutch, and the quicker you can release the clutch, the longer it will last.

How do you really know what the mileage is if the speedometer is broken?

Yea, that's what I thought also. The last Civic I had needed a speedo cable, turns out it was a stripped gear in the trans. I wound up putting two junkyard transmissions in before I got a good one, just to fix the speedo.

The farther you have to let the clutch pedal out before it engages tells you how much wear is on the clutch.

If you have to push it in all the way to keep it from engaging, this would indicate that you have a fresh clutch.

or a seller that knows how to adjust the pedal assembly
True...with a cable activated clutch system.

No adjustment on a hydraulic.

All clutches are different, I have driven several cars that had new clutches and they all catch in different places. There is no problem where it catches unless it is slipping. As in, not engaging immediately if you drop it.
