Who here has road raced? Hasn't abaz done it once? I want to start going to track days but I'm scared of overheating of having the turbo screw something up. Anyone have any experiences? I really dont want to go back to an N/A sohc to do it

I road race. make sure you have a trustworthy water temp guage. preferably with a warning light. and a proper cooling system. maybe start out with auto X and move your way up. it's very much cheaper that way, and you'll learn alot faster with the extra track time instead of just waiting for HPDE days. good luck, you'll love it.

Thats what i was about to say Auto X is fun and all but road racing is where it at. Start out an auto X and learn how your car reacts to turns and tempatures. Do your tuning while you auto x that way when you decide to go RR you'll have a good idea of what your car can do.

I've gone to 2 schools, 10 autox events and pitted at one major Honda-challenge last year. This year I have only gone 1 time. Road racing is expensive if you want to seriously get into it (well I guess any type of racing is expensive) The few times that I did race I was NA each time, once d16a6 and once ls/vtec. Both time's the car is plenty fast for what your doing. I topped my car at the spokane track around 140mph, and I still think it was one of the most scariest momments in my life. I'm sure next year I will be doing some more racing since I just put my Road race cage in my car.

2 tips, take the schools... they are worth the extra money! & get some big brakes, because you will smoke the ---- out of them.

word, and when you are at the school, make sure and explain to the instructor that you are a FF driver and that that is important to you. They will tend to help you out with that. Try and do the type of school that will let you learn in your own car, rather then in theirs or a formula "whatever" car. While those formula cars are fun, a lot of what you learn in them doesn't apply to your car.

and as for brakes, that is a MUST. at least 11" rotors in the front with 4 large piston calipers and a good street/track pad. (I have a custom 11" rotor/Willwood 4 piston caliper setup going in the front, kind of my HM big brake project) and discks in the rear with hawk or EBC pads.(I like EBC better but it's your preference.

to tell you the truth I'd rather be N/A on a road Race track. But my car is turbo for the street, and I can't afford to have Two cars (yet) so I run my daily driver, and just take really good care of it.
