any plumbers on HMT?

We just put in a Utica boiler at my house and hooked it up just like in the piping diagrams. When we turn the cold inlet on to the boiler the water seems to just flow right into the expansion tank like there's too much pressure. There is a pressure reducing valve in-line but it's old. Is it possible for the valve to be bad? Any help would be great thanks.

THey go bad all the time. It should only allow 20 psi.

if its the valve that blows when theres too much pressure make sure they arent aimed at anything important if you dont have them routed witha "dumptube" that ---- wil spray a hot steamy black mess all over the place..... i always wished those valves woudl have some sort of use in a turbo set up

the valve that routes water into teh expansion tank will also be triggered in the same type of reason

it will often blow if the thermostat in your boiler is bad, and teh pressure builds too high, i know i have replaced liek 2 in my house this winter

I will ask my father, he used to be a burner mechanic, he should be able to give a good answer, i know its a pain in the ass but untill you get a chance to fix it, there should be a drain with a valve off your cushion tank, keep emptying it out into a bucket and into a sink or out teh door if it helps, i dont know how fast its filling but if its slowly than its possible to do that

there's too much pressure in the boiler apperently..and the water for the radiators is going right into the expansion tank. I'm a carpenter and i'm trying to help my dad and his friend with his. I think they've decided to call a plumber tomorrow. lol thanks for the help though guys.

Your relief valve may be faulty along with the control for the heat. It may be over temping and increasing pressure and the relief valve may be stuck shut.
