Any one in the Louisville area? Check out my rear mount turbo audi
Ive been reading HMT for a few years now and never really got around to registering, but figured I would now that I have a job that pays well and I can jack around on the internet all day.
Is there any turbo people in the louisville kentucky area that are down for car meets, parties, late night junk food ect? -Anthony Check out my site below: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/780860 |

Nice to see another rear mount setup. Looks pretty good except that it sure hangs down a lot. Looks like you are going to rip off that wastegate any day now if you haven't already. Any issues with the long MAF wires? I was considering moving my MAF so it was a pull through instead of a blow through but didn't. So far mine is working well. Still need to get my alc injection and tuning done. Before that tho, I have some maintenance to get done.
Can't be more than a couple inches clearance under that or is the photo deceiving? Also looks like you are going to melt that compressor silicone/rubber coupler that's going over the exhaust pipe. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...60_13_full.jpg By the way, if STS is trying to tell people they can't make a rear mount turbo for personal use they are just trying to scare you. Assuming their patent is legit, you just couldn't market your own rear mount system for sale. Correct me if I'm wrong but no patent can stop someone from building something for personal use. |

Nice build, looks like your ground clearance, might be an issue, but pics can be decieving..

Same as what everybody else has said, that ---- is way too low for my taste. A for effort though

You need to tuck all that stuff up high like I did. There has to be some other options on where you can put the wastegate and route the plumbing. Plus someone that needs a wastgate will know exactly where to find one...
This is what mine looks like from the rear. You can barely see anything unless you bend down. Attachment 23038 Attachment 23039 |

Acutually just read your cardomian page...Very well documented and looks solid...I would raise the turbo though, the roads here in Louisville can be unforgiving.

I don't want to sound completely ignorant but does the turbo still spool that far from the manifold? I'd think that it would lose alot of its heat/energy by the time it travels the five odd feet through the exhaust...

The closer to the actual exhaust ports you are, the better, but it appears that these remote mount setups don't seem to have problems spooling their turbos. I'd assume it wouldn't have as much "oomph" compared to say, a log, but it apparently does still work quite well.

Re: Any one in the Louisville area? Check out my rear mount turbo audi
There is 4.5" of ground clearance at the lowest point fyi. Ive been running it for 8 months no probs, but im moving the turbo up front soon. That infinity is sweet, much cleaner install than mine.

Yea let me order those gaskets and i can ship them to you directly i suppose, I have attached a jpeg drawing of the rough dimensions i need and a picture of the gasket. Now the thing is my exhaust outlets are oval shaped and I need the piping to transition smoothly from oval to round so ill let you measure the circumference of the oval and decide what diameter tube to start with for the runners. The welds and fab work really need to be show quality, can you tig weld these? What is your address and can you do $300 for both shipped? (no extra piping). Get back to me with the answers and we can get the ball rolling today hopefully.
