Buddy of mine has a dune buggy and wants to turbo it. I have a general idea on the fabrication but the engine management is where im stuck on. Anyone know of anysites? would it be OK on like 5 PSI? with no engine management? anyone with any experience please chime in.

I used to be heavily into vw's back in the day, fully built one from the ground up when I was 14, looking to get back into them soon.

The best way with one of those, because they're so simple- is to set up an FMU system. In a couple of years I'm going to get one together that uses throttle bodies and megasquirt.

But for simplicity's sake, it's easiest to go with an FMU.

actually to be perfectly honest, the best thing to do is forget turboing it and just build a larger engine N/A, you can build a 2276cc engine fairly cheap, and it'll run 12's

some good websites,

Herbie never needed no turbo. That ****** was hardcore NA cause Don Knots was one hell of a tuner.

I had a friend turbo an old bug. Block fitting fits like butter.

my first build was a 1954 vw ragtop (huge fabric sunroof) with a porsche motor Ground up build chrome suspension, front suspension narrowed 1 inch a side and rear was 5 inchs a side. could have been a show car :P

^^^

Oval window ragtop pimpin' ! I came about "-" that close to putting a ragtop in my car, being 14 at the time though I didn't think I could handle cutting a big hole in my roof. Now I think I should have done it.

well besides the fmu you'll need a normal regulator, and you might want to use the fuel tank out of a later model fuel injected bug because it'll have a fuel canister that way it'll never starve for fuel.

that SDS system is way overpriced. You can build your own setup and use Megasquirt for much cheaper (which is precisely what I'm going to do)

I still say the best course of action would be to build N/A- forced induction on these cars is more work than people think. Here's an idea: Get together a bunch of vids showing mildly built vw's, they'll still pull the front wheels off the ground like mad, which is what most people want anyway. and it'll be a ton cheaper without all the tuning headaches.
