any mechanical engineers on the forum?

Re: any mechanical engineers on the forum?
I'm in my fifth year, I almost done. I don't know anyone that has or will finish in five years, but even other degrees are starting to take longer now. It is a ton of math and physics, but I like it.
but you have to realize that everything you study isn't "mechanical" as you would think it is. you will have to take classes like
thermodynamics
fluid dynamics
system dynamics and controls
heat transfer
but the classes that are interesting in my opinion are
strengths of materials
statics
dynamics of mechanisms
but you have to take the bad with the good, ya know. I'd suggeset that before you get you'r heart set on mechanical engineering, look at the courses that are required for the different types of engineering, specifically civil, industrial, mechanical, and structural. or even bioengineering would be the best if you could handle that type of thing.
any questions let us know, I'd be happy to help

I went for Mech Engr. for 2 years, then dropped out. I partied way too much and never did homework, go figure
I'm going back in the fall because I'm more mature now and will actually dedicate my time to the work. This ---- ain't easy, but it sure is cool. To me at least it is. I want to get into robotics primarily, or some sort of automotive technology where I get to design engines.

I do a lot of HVAC and plumbing along with electrical and a bunch of other areas like civil. It's not always as exciting as automotive, but then again we've lived in 4 or 5 differnt states for my wife's job and I've never had a problem getting a good job.

automotive is what i would really like to get into and yes the SAE looks like a awsome organization to get involved with i have another question after you get a mechanical engineering degree how do you go about applying it into a sertan feild like automotive engines ?
