Any lcd tv pros?
I have a 42" sony lcd tv that has about an inch thick line of dead pixels running vertically down the screen. Any ideas of what's broken?
*sometimes it shows some colors but not the right ones* |

take it to a repair shop and ask em for a quote to have it fixed.. they tell you whats wrong and give you a quote.. you take it.. and ebay/google the ---- out of it.. then find the parts you need and replace yourself thats what a friend of mine did 8) |

Damn technology gets you every time. Fuckng bastards.
It could be something as simple as alignment but I agree to bring it in and have a pro take a look at it. |

Re: Any lcd tv pros?
funny picture, i can't believe the gas is so cheap. If I were the pilot I'd park my plane there too.
It's probably a PCB/FCB, one of those printed circuits, flat orange colored usually ribbon cables connecting the board to the panel. You can try replacing one of those since they don't cost too much. If it's not that then you're fucked. It could be the board or the printed circuit boards that hang around the edges of the screen and don't connect to anything. Either thing being damaged (which doesn't take much) will cause that problem. |

the contacts are loose. end of discussion. |

end of discussion. Most likely a damaged PCB. There are only a few PCBs connecting the mainboard to the panel. If one was loose you would lose much more than 1" of the picture. It's possible, but very unlikely that its plugged in enough for most of it's "area" of the screen but not that 1" portion. Those things are thin and fragile as ----, much more likely a trace or few was damaged. I've fixed lcds/plasmas, have you? |
